COMMS

On the roster there are listed COMMS channels for the platoon and the squad, for example 455.2. This is above the ham radio 70cm transmitting range of 450, and below the transmitting range of FRS and GMRS radios of 462. My question is how do we use the listed COMMS channel of 455.2?

What radio are you using?  It's no problem programming/using those channels on Baofeng radios (UV-5R and UV-82 being the most popular).

I have an over the counter GMRS radio and a Yaesu FT-60 ham radio. I have an old Baofeng, but the screen is broken and I can't see what channel I'm on. It sounds like I won't have working comms for this event.

Well now that I think of it, I can still monitor my squad and platoon comms on the Yaesu radio, I just won't be able to transmit. That's better than nothing I suppose.

Yeah, this bothered me too. We're expected to use Ham license channels....
