Planning for travel...

Recommended Posts

I'm signing up for Black Site when registration opens and this will be my first American Milsim and first airsoft event altogether. I'm seeing the dates as Nov 4-5. For other events I have seen some players showing up a day or two early. I'm trying to plan for hotel and based on my experience at the LE academy down there, there's not much to choose from so I want to get a jump on it.

Been going to AMS stuff for awhile now, we typically fly out on thursday to airport closest to event, then we fly home on monday to give us some breathing room after event is over on sunday. So for Blacksite we are flying into Atlanta and driving down to the OP.

Flying into Birmingham may be easier and cheaper. I'm pretty sure it's closer too.

Atlanta had cheaper tickets because its a bigger hub when we looked, Birmingham was closer, but only by a little bit. Atlanta has a larger selection of rental cars, might not be a problem if you book in advance though.

^This is correct, Birmingham is listed as an International airport with the traffic of a regional, so its rental options are easily half what Atlanta offers. I live in Birmingham, and while it is technically closer to the AO by about 20 or so miles, Atlanta might be the best bet on flying in due to cost and logistics.

I booked a hotel for Nov 3 and Nov 4. I'm in reasonable driving distance so will just start home after the op on the 5th.

I'm assuming registration starts on Friday the 3rd? We are not attending any direct action missions.

Yes, registration is always the day before the event officially starts, and the morning of the start of action
