Fps question

Recommended Posts

I got a new gun that said 360fps to 380fps. This aeg shoots 407fps with .20g bbs 6mm. That's probably too much for rifleman, anything I can do to fix this without damaging the spring?

Cut off one coil of your spring. I had to do it 3 times before I got the fps down

You likely don't need to cut down your spring. Cycle the gearbox partway with a partial trigger pull so the spring is compressed, and leave it for a week or so. You should see a 15-30 fps drop.

I just said "without damaging the spring". Also it's mosfet so can't half cycle.

Just a couple precursor questions:

How new is it? It's normal for AEGs to need a couple mag dumped through them to get them "broken in".

Did you do a tightbore install? If you're hesitant to crack the gearbox, the next easiest thing to work on is your hopup and barrel.

What SmokingPancake said actually works; it's not doing any damage to the gun, it's simply leaving the spring under tension long enough for it to "wear in" a little. Similar to how sneakers are more comfortable after a little bit of use.

Hope this helps

I'm still inexperienced. I'm avoiding opening the gun due to warranty because it's new but as soon as that expires I may mod it. Tight bore came in it.

I don't know how to half cycle the mosfet. Tried tapping, full auto switching to semi mid fire, and spamming trigger. I couldn't get it done
