"Optional" safety brief

Recommended Posts

IMO, making this optional seems like a really bad idea.  I'm not sure a lot of people read or understand the online rules.  The safety brief may be their only conduit for getting that information.  In every safety brief I've been to questions are always asked.

I agree with the Evil Bert. Lots of players running around not knowing that they are breaking rules is worse then a player purposely breaking the rules. If your going to make this optional then id suggest that the AMS reffs be a lot more strict to try and enforce players to not break the rules and if they do they will have serious consequences.

Are we entirely sure all safety briefs will be optional? I feel the "optional" safety briefs are going to be something in addition to what we normally go through for those who have a lot of questions. I could be entirely wrong but I feel like AMS is likely required to get us all to sit through the safety briefs for insurance alone. Just my input.

When a person registers for an AMS event, they have to check a box stating that they have read and understood the AMS Ruleset. Therefore it is the PLAYER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW THE RULES. If they don't or need clarification, then they have the "Optional Safety Briefing" to attend.

Personally I'm torn if this is good or bad. I firmly believe that we, as players, need to be accountable for our own actions and the knowledge we need to participate at any company's events. My only caveat is that harsher punishment needs to be brought down on violators.

There was no required safety brief at OP34.

While there was no required safety brief at op34, they covered major/most common issues at the formation. I like this personally.

They covered a few issues at morning faction brief at 34-2, yet we got onto a bunch of newer guys on our side that were reloading in the field, walking around to find a medic, not bleeding out, etc.

Yuk, while I agree that all the players should know the rules before attending the event, most players are too lazy to do so. :(

IMO, a system where only new players have to attend the safety briefs, or even that you have to attend one every year even as a return player, so everyone stays up to date may work better.

There are always going to be outliers that fall into the "stupid is as stupid does' category, even if you staple the ruleset to their shirt.

Requiring new players to attend the safety brief is where we want to be. However, its hard to track who is new. We will go over new rules and tweaks at the faction briefs, but were trying to find the happy medium between the traditíonal way we have done it, and having no brief at all.

How about you get your safety briefing bracelet at checkin only if you can show a "5" AMS ranger eye. Once you have been to that many events you should be able to get by with just the formation briefing. Until you reach that level you need to attend a true safety briefing to receive your bracelet
