What is considered DMR? Barrel is main question?

Recommended Posts

Read thru the rules and such but, can a Dmr be counted as having a 16 inch plus Barrel. There's been a lot of talk about needing to be 20 inch plus Barrel to be considered a DMR. Would like to know for the 2017 DMR rule set thank you.

DMR classification has always been based on the round size and intended purpose of an airsoft replica's real firearm version. This is typically a rifle with 10-30 round real mag capacity that fires in 7.62 Nato, or a similarly sized round.

So in regards to your question, barrel length itself does not classify a rifle under the DMR limitations. There are rifles such as SVD's, PSL's and SR25's however that do have longer barrels. So first start by looking up the real version of your rifle, and compare that to some of the rifles on the DMR wiki. If it uses a heavier round, and is typically carried by one member of a squad element with a mid-to long range optic, then it's usually a DMR classified rifle.

If you still have questions, post up the make of your gun, and staff can lend the final word.
