DMR Mag Requirements

Recommended Posts

I was reading the AMS rule set and under the DMR squad role it says they are limited to having 7 magazines on their person, however, under the "Magazines" section it says that DMR/Snipers are allowed to have unlimited mags and are instead held to the 1,500 round limit.  So my question is which of these is true? lol

I think you need to re-read the ruleset, in both the DMR section and the Magazines section is states that you may only carry 7 magazines. As far as I'm aware, the 1,500 round limit is an old rule that is null because of the new 7 mag limit. It's not possible for you to carry that many rounds in 7 mid cap mags.

I'm looking at the ruleset right now, and it doesn't say anything about 1500 rounds under magazines.

MAGAZINES

A. High capacity magazines (HICAP), AKA Clockwork Magazines are only authorized to be used in SSWs.

B. Drum/Box/C-Mags are only authorized to be used in SSWs.

C. Rifleman/DMR/Sniper are allowed 7 midcap (non winding) magazines.

Where are you reading the rules that show a 1500 round count?

I think you may need to update your PDF, I downloaded the one at the bottom of the ruleset and it has the 1,500 round language still in it.  Good to know its seven mags though, thanks for the response.

I thought the role of a DMR , was to be the middleman between a sniper , and infantryman. For persons doing this role, where is the skill vs the fps?

What exactly are you asking? How to play the role effectively?

I know how to play the role.....I'm asking about the skill vs the fps limit. If your rifle is under the limit , can you still dmr?

Sure. You would probably have to do a little fine tuning to maximize your range with the lower FPS....but sure.

If you are under 400 and have a semi-automatic weapon you would be better off calling yourself a rifleman and letting someone with a beefier, higher velocity gun use up your squad's DMR slot. Play like a marksman if you like, but don't waste the force multiplier of a weapon with superior range by calling yourself the squad dm if you are under 400fps.

For a DMR role, does the 7 mag rule apply to his sidearm/secondary mags as well? I have an SVD with some upgrades and was gonna use my 1911 as a secondary. Should I carry 7 mags for my rifle and 2 for my pistol or 5 for rifle and 2 for my pistol? THanks

The 7 mag limit is for your main gun only. There is no limit to how many pistol mags you can carry.

AlexAMS, can you weigh in on mag limits if the secondary is a PDW? Say an M4 pistol or MP5K?

If you are carrying a ''PDW'', we basically consider it the same as carrying two primaries.  You must split the total mag limit of seven between the two weapons.
