Since this will be my first time participating in an American MilSim event, I wanted to hear from guys who have played in FG4.

Round count for a Rifleman is 1500 rounds. At FG4, how many rounds did you typically fire? How many guys used low cap mags, and how many mags did you carry?

There have been several rule changes this year. Check the forms under 2016 Rules changes - OBH V. The round limit has been changed to a mag limit. Maximum of 7 mags, as many rounds as those 7 mags can hold. No high cap mags allowed so you have to use mid cap or real cap mags. To help offset the new mag limit there are new resupply rules, your squad leader can send a request for resupply up the chain of command and your squad should receive an ammo drop in the field. Good trigger discipline is more important than ever now as you may have to wait some time for that resupply. I ran just 7 mags at ESR19 without the benefit of getting resupplied (that wasn't available to CDF) and didn't have an issue with running low on ammo.

Lol, this is sounding fun, but not realistic. On a real world mission, an assaulter would carry 10-12 mags for himself, with 2-4 on his back panel for his mates.

I appreciate the heads up.

Well in the real world mags don't hold 120 rounds either. I run a gas gun and run my magazines at real capacity. They are also real weight. That adds up. 16 total mags would add up to 17 lbs or so just in magazines.

The Marine Corps issues 6 mags with your rifle. Now the grunts carry a lot more than that, but the "standard" issue when you get your rifle is 6 magazines.

Keep in mind that a single mid-cap contains roughly 4x the number of rounds as a standard magazine.

I use 75 round midcaps and carry a total of 6 and had only (1) instance of running out of ammo.  Had I been using the standard 120-150, I likely would've been fine.

Also, you can refill magazines should you be required to respawn.

Not an effort to insult anyone's tactical prowess, but RW standard load out is 7 magazines. 2 in each pouch with one in the weapon. That gets modified as mission and resupply availability are factored in. But doctrinally, 7 is standard.

Also haven't seen mag pouches on your back for a friend. FA pouches yes, since its for you. That's just my observations.

Pardon me dude, but In the real world , the guys who trained me loaded ten to twelve rifle mags, and no less than four mags for their sidearm. We also carried two- four mags on our back panel, along with three bangers.

When I worked security for a certain organization, I had no less than 300 rounds on me at all times. In the National Guard, Rifleman carried ten mags. Maybe other units " Issue" less, but when you go outside the wire, there's no such thing as a 'respawn". It's you fight with what you carry to the fight.

Train like you fight.

What "certain organization" did you work security for?

The point I was trying to make earlier was even if you did carry the 16 mags you talked about plus one in the guni that's still only 510 rounds in the RW. With just 7 Airsoft mags I can carry up to 1330 rounds. The mag limit was put in place to make the game more realistic, encourage players to work as a team and practice better trigger control. Just remember it's a game, AMS does an amazing job giving us the "Milsim" experience but everyone will have different expectations and get something different from the events. Play how you want as long as its within the rules and most importantly have fun.

I just quoted US Army doctrine. Not here to try to be cryptic about what certain organization you did security with or what my experience is. Just reassuring you and the forum, the magazine restriction and resupply/reconstitution is in line with real world doctrine, albeit not all individual operations.

To be clear and not secret squirrel. My experience base comes from my over 20, still serving, years in the US Army. 6 of those years in 4 different combat theaters. As an Infantryman and Psychological Operations Specialist.

Ya, 40% of the forums are veterans and we haven't seen much in the way of IS infiltration yet, so skip the hush hush nonsense.  If it's that secret you wouldn't have mentioned it to begin with.  We don't stand on suspense around here :)

I can't even remember what I used to carry back in the day.  Now I carry 6+1 midcaps.

Dude no nonsense in me not revealing my employer. It's called an NDA, and it's punishable in a court of law.
