UFS Radio

Recommended Posts

UPDATE  9/5/16

Attn:

For 2016 UFS has implemented a PERMANENT radio matrix.  This will allow us both

A)  More channels capable of handling more traffic

B)  A comms matrix that NEVER HAS TO CHANGE!

For the time being, this thread will be up for people to download the Chirp file (.img)  as well as ask questions.

Please go here CHIRP to download the latest version of the Chirp software.

Don't get the 6 dollar cables.  If you have windows 10 and some other newer versions of windows the knock off Prolific chip in the cheapo cables doesn't play well and the BAOFENG groups I'm part of are flooded with "my computer wont' read my radio with x cable blah blah" and 9.9 times out of 10 it's a cheap cable causing driver issues with Windows.

I bought a lot of stuff though Baofeng Tech (who sells the cable in the link above) and if you have any problems they have great customer service.

whats up candy,

maybe you can help me out brother. so i downloaded everything correctly and everything is reading, but when i try to upload the file to my bao it gives me this message.... The upload was stopped because the firmware version of the image (  Ver  BFB297 ) does not match that of the radio (N5R2401BFB297 ). what can i do about it? thats for all six of my team radios. thanks a bunch candy

Cool deal.  For anyone reading who wants to know how to "fix" this just download the image from the radio you are trying to program then "import" the file you want to use into the image for the radio you are programing.  THen upload.  Should fix that problem.  It's also why each of my radios has it's own file and I have a master file I update as needed.  Each of my radios is labeled so I know which one I'm working with when programing.

I'm guessing my midland lxt1800 cannot be programmed for the frequencies. Bummer, ill buy a Baofeng later.

Correct, the Midland LXT1800 and other "bubble pack" types of radios can not be manually programmed with different frequencies.

Why does the csv. have values that the img. file doesn't? I.E. offset, rToneFreq,cToneFreq, Dtcs code and polarity.

Trying to program a Wouxon KG-UV8d and won't have my computer with me this weekend to reprogram if I don't get it right the first time.

Chirp exports into a CSV that anyone can read.  It exports all values even if they arent used.   In this case, those values you listed are default numbers, that even though they arent used in Chirp, they are shown in the CSV file.

TLDR:   ignore everything that isnt in the Location column, Name column, Frequency column.

Once you are in the window where you down loaded your image from the Wouxon to your CHIRP then you should be able to go to File>Import.  Then select the file you want to import onto that image.  It will overwrite all of the stuff that's in slots 1 thru 48.  but leave everything else that's on the UV8D's img.  Unless you change the .csv import to other empty slots.  before  you click OK.

So I was programming my 3 baofengs and the one with older baofeng firmware can't be programmed with chirp so I can only manually program it.

The case is rare nowadays but incase you have the same issue here is a print out for manual programming I made with basically the same info as the csv file, t-ctcs and r-ctcs tones are 0 unless specified. not the neatest but great to shoving in a pocket somewhere.

Sorry about that, I had some friends ask how to do it and typing it out wasn't working so I decided to just make a video and record my screen lol. I figured it might help someone else out that is new or just struggling to program them using the software.
