The Little Things.

Hey AMS community! I'm sure some of us have had those rigging moments out in the field. Maybe a gun goes down or gear rips and you have to fix it somehow. Maybe you are using something on your person in a combat scenario to divert attention from yourself.

I'd like to hear what small items you players keep stowed in your kits! Things like e-tape, zip ties, lighters, paracord, writing tools and maps, etc. The sort of things that you might not use all the time, but when you need them, you dig through your admins and gp pouches, thankful to have them on you.

I carry a few zip ties in varying sizes, small role of electrical tape, paper and pencil, multi plier, 5' of 550 cord and a single use tube of super glue ( great for a temporary fix to some gear and even better as a bandaid). This all fits in the same small pouch I keep my spare batteries and spare dead rag in.

I carry a couple of pens, a few sheets of paper, electrical tape, a compass, a pair of scissors, and a lighter. I also bring at least one extra battery and one extra dead rag. Everything is split between my admin pouch and a gp on my belt.

Great suggestion on the super glue! That stuff is so light and comes in such small bottles you'd hardly notice the addition. I've even considered keeping a small sewing kit on me for similar situations.

Just a standard compass with plexiglass backer? I've seem guys that will mount a small floating compass on top of their pouches as well or on their watchband for quick orientation.

Strongly considering that myself as I be a bit directionally challenged at times.

I'll typically keep the following by default: standard weight zip ties, e-tape, rubber bands, small clip on red LED light (the kind runners use), map in waterproof case, spare batteries, an allen key tool, 4-5' paracord, a small knife, headlamp, and anti-fog.

Have thought about adding a small container of gold bond powder, a lighter, a small sewing kit, a compass, a watch, and possibly a small watertight bag. (Should heavy rainfall or large water crossings enter the equation.)

It is one of those military style flip compass with the peep hole to use land marks to determin your location based on direction and elevation and all that. I sort of know how to do that but I mainly just use it as a basic compass.

Extra battery, extra dead rag, map of the ao if I have one.

Allen key set and flat head.

Duct tape and a pocket knife.

Electrical tape, lighter, paracord, zipties, allen key, pocket knife, spare batteries, AO map, permanent marker and a pocket notebook are all definitely must carry items. I also make sure I carry an actual first aid kit with me too, not just two rolls of bandages. You never know.

Oh, and also my Leatherman multi-tool!

You pretty much nailed it on the head:

  • Multi-Tool
  • Small hex wrenches
  • zip ties
  • paracord
  • etape
  • Sharpies (couple colors)
  • Lighter
  • Meds (cough drops/Tylenol/Ibuprofen/Eye Drops)
  • Batteries (aaa, aa, 3v, button as well as 2 back-ups for my AEG)

Definitely going to look into re-managing my real IFAK. Has always seemed a bit large, so I might downsize it a bit.

I tend to carry a frog togg with me as well for warmer events just in case one of my guys has a heat issue.

I carry around a roll of electric tape, a multi-tool, compass, pens, a small notepad, an extra dead rag, and I also have this really nifty pocket-knife style set of Allen keys that comes in handy rather often.

Pretty much most the above, but include sm bottle of J&J no tears shampoo and buf rag for anti-fog, also extra CO2 cylinder for my pistol

and the only Allen key is the one that fits my pistol mag. Compass, elect. tap, zip ties, multi-tool, pocket knife are pretty much it. Also sm bottle of super glue for whatever.
