The following will Rules will be implemented at Operation Broken Home V.  The ruleset will not reflect these changes until after OP ESR-19 (4)

Vehicles:

-After 1st Rocket hit, vehicle is disabled, and has a 5 minute burn out time, after 5 mins, everyone in it is dead.

-After 2nd Rocket hit, vehicle is destroyed, and everyone inside is dead.

-There are no more transport vehicles, and gun trucks.  Only one type of vehicle, based on a current gun truck ruleset.  The different vehicle types will no longer exist.

-All windows must be down, including drivers window.

-Driver must wear full face protection.  (Goggles and lower mask are ok)

-No treating of wounded players inside vehicles.

-Ammo restricted to twice the amount of dismounted SSW class (this may change from event to event)

-Limit of two Mounted weapons systems on vehicles

Non Vehicles:

-Limit rifleman, DMR, and Sniper to 7 magazines.

-Limit SSW to 3000 rounds loaded in magazines.

-No Ammo will be carried in the field.  Faction Supply personal will coordinate re-supply.  Each Platoon will have a re-supply box that the Platoon fills with their own ammo, and is delivered to Squads/Platoons in the field.

What about vehicles that have had windows replaced with steel plate?

Also is the application/approval process still the same?

I am interested in seeing how this plays out.  Huge AO, poor radio skills and breakdowns always plague this event, mixing of ammo with others that you pay for and haul to the event, breakdown of command structure after hour one that always happens ( dont kid yourself we know this is the case) Potential for hours on end sitting and waiting on a resupply that went to cool guy super squad instead... I can see this working out well and good at a smaller AO like ESR but DDAY is MASSIVE. We have seen in previous years it is hard enough to find admin when there is a issue much less your own ammo.

Not trying to piss in your cereal Alex, I know everyone wants more "Milsim" more "MSW" crap. But I have seen first hand how hard it is to coordinate actual military supply drops, in a non combat situation, much less a fake one, with COD syndrome running rampant  I have loved the changes implemented so far in the last couple years, making the game much more enjoyable.  This one just has me more worried about not having fun out there than any of them in the past.

I agree with transition. I would also like to give my personal opinion. I think 7 mags is a low amount, this is my opnion of course. I think 10-15 would be a acceptable amount. or instead of a magazine cap maybe a ammo cap, but idk. There is a lot of tweaking still to be done.

7 is plenty. I hardly burn though 6. Only reason I burned more last year was cause of day 2 due to rain.

What size of mag you using?

I have a couple issues with these new rules. First is the ammo resupply. Going by the numbers on the low side its about 63 bags of ammo per side for one resupply. Who will be responsible for distributing the ammo? Who will be making sure the correct ammo is being taken? Who will be in communication with 300 people for resupply? Will the ammo be in one big box where people can just grab it willy nilly? What if ammo gets misplaced? What if i cant reach resupply to find out where I can get my ammo? Communication breaks down whether it be terrain or electronics. I have first hand seen Communications with command break within the first 15 min of game play. This is only for the first resupply. It would turn into a cluster.

The 7 mag rule would give an advantage to the people who are able to use magazines with a capacity over 120, mostly m4s and aks. I have seen mids for m4s that go as high as 190, and a few ak mags that go as high as 180. Versus say a mp5 midcap with a total round of 120 rounds, and im not even sure how well these would work. That is pretty unfair.

Cool more Vehicle rules, but how do the people in the rear in a noisy vehicle know their vehicle just got hit by its first rocket? Or their second? After I have hit a vehicle I have been blasted in the face with the their turret gun because they did not know that they were hit. Vise versa I have been in a vehicle that has been hit and kept shooting, because I didn't know it was hit. I would like to see Rule changes addressing this instead of worrying about how we will be carrying our ammo.

I feel that restricting magazine reloads to respawn points is sufficient immersion, especially considering the sheer number of players at OBH every year.  Still, I'm curious to see if/how it works out.

As far as the mag limit for snipers...  :P

I can totally see the 7 mag limit working for riflemen and designated marksmen, since both are usually making use of mid cap mags.  My sniper mags barely hold 20-25 bbs each, which makes my round count 140-170 bbs, one seventh of the carry capacity of a rifleman.  Now I think a mag limit instead of a round limit is an interesting idea, to be sure, but as it stands it kinda feels like I'm getting the short end of the stick.

Like the new vehicle rules!

Gas blowback rifles should have unlimited mag allowance, 840 rounds (on average) for an AEG seems fine.

So if the resupply is done in the field will the platoon be reloading on the field?  no more FOB's?  So if you are holding an objective/building you can be resupplied there?

Sounds interesting.

Per AMS Alex.

Yes, you can re-load at your FOB from your own stash.  There is no round count, only the number of magazines.  They can not be winding magazines, but if you want to run 180 round midcap mags instead of 120, that is fine.  7 including the one in the gun.

I do echo the concerns about squads getting split up and losing radio contact, but do like this concept overall.

Perhaps this could be resolved by fixed/dedicated MRP's who's delivery location is voiced to the platoon prior to STARTEX/Insertion. Something along those lines would ensure that the player both knows where the delivery is should they lose their way, and that their cache won't change locations on them without their knowledge.

As a hybrid rule suggestion, perhaps the players could pack their ammo after locating their cache, or be given the option to move the cache to their own determined location. If they have later objectives that are a large distance from their previous cache delivery point, that might be largely inconvenient on these massive AO's.

Overall, might be best to test this particular rule addition on one of the smaller AO's this year.

My biggest concern, coming from Ironhorse, is the 7 mag limit. I run an SA58 as my main rifle and -- so far in the current market -- SA58s only have 90-round mid-cap magazines available to them. I ran through my mags (ironically, I was carrying seven; one in the gun, six on my person) rather thoroughly during Ironhorse.

That's not saying I don't have other guns that indeed have 120/140 round mid-caps, but it stinks having to think about shelving my favorite gun because it's considerably less practical. All of this -- of course -- is just a preliminary reaction. Who knows? With the new changes in ammo rules, perhaps it might be better overall? I guess we'll all find out at Broken Home this year!

Ssw 3000 limit. Does that mean just one box mag in your gun? If so kinda blows I bought an extra box mag for this event lol. Also the ammo rule is terrible. I hope the community convinces you to drop it for the old one. You are going to have more people walking back to camp more often now. I'm still pumped about the event though Woot.

Stop crying everyone, this has been tried before and it worked before and brought an interesting twist. This is a good reason for your platoon leaders to be communicating with you and their field commanders so that they can coordinate supply drops. Yes, shit happens and you may have to break contact to resupply or you may have to adapt and over come so stop crying about it and just use it as another way to learn from hardship.

In the military you don't see people running 10-15 mags!

7 is enough especially at this event cause the AO is so big unless you are fighting in coleville

I will cry if I want to. I call it voicing an opinion. It has been tried by many other promoters and failed. And you know how shitty communication is at these events. Go read a few aars from previous events just in case you've forgotten. Iron clad would be a good starting point

The vehicle rule I like, the 7 mag rule is fine, but I am kind of on the fence with the ammo I could see it being good or bad. Mainly my concern is some Jack ass taking my ammo by mistake or because he ran out, what ever the reason may be. Then I am out money, ammo and or game play. I remember one year we took supplies to be left at our FOB aka other side of the airport,  never saw our ammo again, it vaporized I guess. Also people make a great point about communication brake down, cant think of how many times I have been out of comms range for hours.

Geez Ron, chill.  The whole point of the forum is to provide a place for open communication between the staff and the players.  Some of us have concerns, so this would be the best place to voice them.  There's no reason to belittle us for speaking up.

I would hardly say it is "crying" this is the kind of problem we have had in the past with leadership! I wonder where my stuff that got left at a FOB went to last year at BH? Oh thats right command moved locations without tell anyone who was not being a fobbit and I lost a bunch of stuff to the woodelves of oklahoma.  When you roll out a new product or change you do not field test it in your largest market share, you roll it out in a "test market" and see how it goes. I know from other promoters that have tried this (myself included) and it was a disaster in that case.  Mag restrictions are what they are for those worried about that I could care less.  Not like one person checked last year as I had numerous people found running HI caps on the field on both teams, only to be told they diddnt have money for mids etc so to bad.  Keep reloading at dedicated spawns, enforce squad respawn,. Kick a player off for not having proper uniform, fix the existing issues before adding new ones! Are we being issued ammo now? Will that be included in my ticket fee? I doubt it as .32 bios are how much? "stop crying" "well see what happens" great response full of answers from people who should know better on these pages.
