Yet another SAW ammo question...

I'm fairly sure what the answer will be, but I'd like confirmation from you smarter folks.

 

I am running a saw with box mag (Little shy of 3k capacity) and do not plan on carrying another box mag. Since I am allowed to use high cap style mags, does this mean I can use flash mags to fill the remaining 2k of bbs to reach the 5k limit?

H. SSWs may use winding “High Cap†type magazines with no more than 5000 rounds in magazines.

I. SSWs may carry two box magazines.

Ah ok, so it's a solid OR on that one. Thank you, that was my confusion.

The rules say that either box mags or high caps are acceptable. If you do not fill out your ammo limit with you can fill out your ammo limit with the other. I think the reason you would be limited to two box mags is that some hold 3k rounds and you can't really accurately measure how many rounds you are putting in.

I actually do both. It's two box mags, or one box mag and hicaps. They limit you to two boxes for exactly the reason shortround mentioned.

I find one box mag is cumbersome enough. but ultimately it's up to you.

You can carry both, no more then two box mags, and your overall loaded mag limit can not exceed 5000 rounds.  So, if you have two 1500 round box mags, you can then carry 2000 more rounds however you feel appropriate including winding high caps or midcaps.
