Full face masks

Recommended Posts

I am just curious what is the general opinion of full face or "paintball" style face masks. I know from a "milsim" standpoint they aren't really true to form. But from a safety standpoint they offer the most protection eyes, ears, nose, and mouth all in one package. Are they typically frowned upon but accepted or are they a full on no-go for milsim events?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

If you want to use full face protection or are under 18 then yes wear it. It is not a matter of not being milsim it is most of us older guys that dont have to wear them dont so we can more effectively use our weapon as the lowers can get in the way.

If you want the extra protection though that is your choice and dont let anyone tell you its not milsim enough; its not their face after all.

Yeah, I already have an upper partial to replace 8 teeth, I would like to keep the bottom ones as long as possible!!

I typically use a wire face mask (good example: Matrix Iron Face Carbon Steel Mesh "Striker V1" Lower Half Mask - Tan). I don't really like the look of full face masks (my opinion) and I feel like I don't really need protection on the ears (even though it may hurt). Eye Pro and teeth pro is the way that I'm going.

There's quite a few players that wear mesh lowers for guarding teeth. (Dental work is crazy expensive.) Some still risk it though. All up to the player and I've never heard anything negative on them. I wear a low profile one myself. UK arms I think. If they are ever too big, there are plenty of videos out there on cutting them down.

You don't see many full face masks however.

I use a neoprene half face mask and full seal goggles. I prefer that over full face so I can get closer to the sights and so my face isn't as big as a target.
