First reindeer games

Recommended Posts

I went to broken home this year and it was a blast, I just recieved news that I can go to this one. Is there any hints that a veteran on this op can give to an FNG? I plan on enlisting on CDF but i have not registered yet because I do not have the debit card at the moment.

Prepare for Cold weather, I mean Cold. Layer up and dress down if you get warm.

Good boots help, there is Lots of loose rocks so slippage is High risk there. I think maybe.......4 or 5(?) people turned their ankles last year and it wasn't slick either. Watch where ya step and you'll be good haha

Lots of little valleys and a couple of steep hills

I second TTSUPRA98 on the boots. I made the mistake of taking my "comfortable" pair last year. It was great for all the walking and running, but I was basically a human boulder when it came to inclines. A couple more things...

1) Go running. Build some cardio. The Stinger AO's terrain will get the best of you. Even if it's running around the block once a day, it will make all the difference when it comes to game time.

2) There are cactus... And lots of them... Bring gloves.

3) The terrain is solid. You will fall and you will have to jump on to your knees at certain points. Get some knee pads to keep from busting your shin on rocks.

4) bring lots of water and have fun. Having fun is a key component a lot of people leave out. You're paying good money, travelling a good ways, with some good friends, to a good game. Through the thick and thin, have a good time.

This will also be my fist Reindeer Games and my first MilSim for that matter. I am from Houston so the cold might hit me a bit but I have most of my family in Michigan and I have been there many times in the winter so I do know how to prepare for cold. I will need to work on my cardio though. Also I plan on camping.

Please head over to the AMS rule section of the forum. Tons to take in. Ask questions. There are a ton of AMS vets monitoring this forum and are generally very helpful.

To be honest, 2 years ago was frozen, so last year that's what we prepped for, and it turned out to be in 50's the whole time. Definitely prepare for the cold, but don't expect it. Just my $.02, I'm not a weatherman. :P

Forcast says Friday high 61 and sunny low 37, Saturday high 59 and cloudy low 40, and Sunday high 58 with rain low 38. But with more than a week to go this may change. This weekend is all rain with it stopping around Tuesday and should dryout by game day. We will see.
