I believe so, as long as you are still adhering to SSW ammunition limits.

Some people did that at Copperhead. (From the videos I've seen.) But make sure you do what Specs said above.

If a Support gunner only has one box magazine, can they also use midcaps?

 

Yes, a SSW may use a Box, Hi or Mid caps just adhere to the ammo restrictions.
