What's with the balance?

Recommended Posts

Exactly. Superior numbers doesn't guarantee victory. History has shown us countless occasions in which a smaller force is able to overcome with superior strategy, tactics and willpower. Victory can be achieved, it only depends on badly we want it. And I won't lie, the UFS will be throwing their hardest into this fight. They finally have Coleville and they won't give it up easily.

To the UFS soldiers, I say I'm looking forward to doing battle with you. You all never cease to bring your A game. On the battlefield we may be foes but off the field I will always congratulate your efforts. I couldn't ask for finer opponents in war or greater individuals to share a weekend away from reality with :)

To my CoST brothers all I can say is: Fight. Fight as you've never fought before. Don't quit the field because the battle doesn't swing in our favor; don't despair when the Federal forces strike at us with the might of their war machine. Give it your all, throw yourselves once more into the breach and turn this war around! Because we won't stop at Broken Home. No, we'll push the Federals all the way to Washington and secure our right to truly be a Coalition of SOVEREIGN Territories!

No matter what happens, at the end of the day, I'll be glad to spend a weekend having fun with an amazing group of individuals, regardless of faction, in this incredible pastime known as airsoft. You all are the best!

Haha, well thanks, fellas! I really just came up with that on the fly to encourage my fellow brothers/sisters in arms. And hey, I'd be all for taking on a morale officer role. Just have JP hand me a megaphone before the battle and I'll get us pumped up and ready to fight! ;)

I have always been UFS (IFOK for OKIV in the past) just because I ran tan. Now I swap between tan and muticam depending on the event. RDG was a great place for both colors. I ran tan still and fit in very well. IC nothing really fit in because everything was grey or just wide open. ESR was snowy but I think multicam fit in better than tan. Broken home is green... everywhere. Tan sticks out so much that multicam is just a better fit.

All in all, I will always be UFS. Zero bandwagon here! I was here when we lost almost every game and now I'm are here while we are winning!

Respect to the die hard CoST members too! That's what makes this so fun!

I chose UFS becuase i already had Multicam and I have guys to run with on UFS. Im thrilled when I see CoST make a comeback. Theyre the other team but I see pure dedication. Im surprised more people dont take CoST because theyre camo seems to work better with all the green.

I cant make BH IV but Im hoping for a CoST victory, to be honest.

The way I see it, CoST is having to attack this year to regain the ground we lost last year.  With the current numbers, it just proves that we're sending in our Special Operations Forces to take care of the problem.

Problems like these aren't solved by Spec Ops; they are solved by infantry doing what infantry does best. I'll take a small disciplined group of grunt recruits over an army of Ranger wanna-be's any day.

I really want to reply to this but I cannot put together what I want to say. I mean, I sincerely agree with you in the terms that given the situation, it would be better for infantry to push through, regardless of the odds. Yet, the problems I was addressing wasn't simply the "mission at hand", if you will, but rather the problem of having a smaller force than our enemy. Yes, looking back, I see the analogy was incorrect, to say the least, and I'm somewhat embarrassed that I allowed myself to say such a thing, even when referencing our numbers.

Every branch and division has their own "ideal" missions and this is, as you said, solved by infantry doing what infantry does best. I apologize for the poor analogy.

Don't worry about it, I get what you meant. I have been with CoST from the beginning, and have watched it ebb and flow like any large team will. The biggest problem that any field commander faces in this sport is all the guys who think they know best, and think they are SF/Rangers/Seals/MarSoc etc. Too many of these types feel they are too good to hold a defensive line, too skilled to follow orders, or too experienced to be a grunt. UFS had a series of ass kickings that made them remember how important the grunt is, and they adjusted: the results speak for themselves... CoST is getting back to that, but it's going to take some face in the dirt time from each player.

There will always be that person who thinks they know best.  Hell, I am guilty of it at times myself.  I look at everything from a strategic point of view and sometimes the things that don't make much sense is simply because I'm not fully educated as to the "why", so I do attempt to keep an open mind when I attend events like this.  Even last year at Broken Home III, in the off time from playing, I was going over various strategies that we could potentially use against the UFS to help give us a better chance.  In the end, we still stuck with what Command said, even when we were, on a few instances, given bad intel and it led to bad results.  It happens.  We are the grunts for CoST.  It even says so on our tickets.  We are CoST Army.  We are the front line.  #CoSTPride

It's always frustrated me when I've told players about Milsim events like Broken Home and they say "Oh I'd definitely be a special forces guy and go do my own this at an event like that!"... And that's just not the approach to take at all. This is "milsim" not "spec-opssim". Mil for military and that involves grunt, front line action. I think people even confuse what being special forces mean, especially on the grand scale of an actual battle.

Yes, sometimes spec ops have been called to act independent and go behind enemy lines but that's the thing... They've been called. Ordered. It hurts morale to see a group of guys decide to go Rambo, even though orders state "hold the line" and run off into the woods, leaving the rest of the frontline troops suffering as a result of their absence.

So that's why my advice is: follow orders. Stay by your battle brothers and sisters. As said before, the UFS learned that its unit cohesion and acting as an army of soldiers first that has given them advantages this past year. Let's not assail Coleville as a whole group of independent units, each seeking our own tacticool levels of glory but rather advance as ordered, stick with each other and hold the line as we take back our old territory.

This isn't Battlefield where you "squad up" for YouTube levels of badassery but rather Milsim, where you *simulate* the event of two separate armies clashing over a territory. And let me assure you, an army of the Coalition is nothing to ever underestimate. We've learned our lesson and we are coming back with a vengeance!

*clears throat* Oh and remember above else, have fun! :D

I like how you liked you're own post, Longsword.  xD

Yeah, you're right.  Don't be that guy.  Don't be the YouTube "tacticool" guy only looking for awesome footage.  Just do what you're suppose to and awesome stuff will happen.  For example, last year when I went with the Gamblers and 2nd Platoon down into the Valley.  That was the best moment of the weekend for me because it turned out so awesome (and of course it also ended in disaster for us).  Together, we'll win this as a unified team.

Oh so that's what the check mark does! I posted that on my phone and had no idea I liked my own comment. I'm not a narcissist XD

But yep, my favorite Milsim moments have been those that happen organically. Just experiencing the ebb and flow of battle contains enough excitement! :)

I started our UFS bc I had multican. Now if i went to CoST I would feel like a traitor...I will stick with UFS through thick and thin. I plan on going to ironclad 2 and judging from the location I would assume that the CoST will outnumber the UFS? I'm ok with that. I try not to get stuck with the attitude of "if we don't have it, you don't have it".

Sadly I was too slow on the draw and Nemesis will be playing on UFS like they did last year. It was a blast and my first event with AMS. Both sides did well and the firefights were fantastic.

As for me if a squad would adopt me as their own on CoST I will gladly fight along side them for this event. Especially since I will likely be gone for two years (for Pararescue pipeline) before any other events this year.

Either way, have fun and stay sharp.

No worries, we will find a spot for you.

I would go UFS for grins and giggles but... I don't want to.  And I don't want to end up as permanent tank decoy target.

Its just proof the rebellion is failing! Lol, JK. I hope you guys never quit, cause then who am I gonna duke it out with? My SL and reason I got into AMS said that this is the first time hes seen UFS have any real numbers over COST, and definitely this much. I hear they give help to the lower number side. Plus COST has more freaking vehicles, including Evikes damn humvee.... I have a feeling Im gonna hate Evike by the end of BH.
