For myself. I had a blast. It was the hardest fight I've ever had in my 7 or 8 years of playing airsoft. I was UFS for my first AMS event this weekend. I was much impressed with our CO's they were behind the front lines, and insuring people kept moving. One was a hot head but I believe he had good intentions. Others take the game more seriously then I do and I respect that but let's not forget. IT'S BB GUN WARS!!

For some of those complaining and making a big deal about the event, those people are the type that are practically impossible to please. Take their criticism and forget they ever attended as they said they will never attend again. I'm sure it's completely crushed everyone's feelings.

Never had an issue with admin, all helped me in the best way they could.

My only 2 complaints are simple. The game was designed for UFS to lose. I get that, I liked it, made it challenging. But it would've been a better game had UFS been allowed a starting point in the 30's and 40's buildings so that the entire AO could be effectively used and there by allowing all players a chance to play without having to worry about guarding a building for hours on end without conflict. Although UFS made lots of brave charges across open fields numerous times. We generally all were taken out before anyone could reach cover. Had better foothold been allowed, this game might have been doubly intense

2nd complaint. Extreme lack of regard for hit calling among an entire squad of CoST at the beginning of the night game. So bad that our squad left in frustration and anger so that we wouldn't hurt anyone. When we arrived back at the hotel. We began talking to several CoST players who said they left because a squad I their own team was bragging about not calling hits. I know nothing can be done abou this by admins or AMS staff. It was still discouraging to hear.

All in all, the Sunday game was intense and fun. Had a blast.

I'll be back next year hopefully!

From the cost co

The players deserted or isolated in building jj and ll i do apologize fpr the lack of missions. I spent 80% of the time in top levels of the mosque monitoring ufs troop movement. I sent my teammate and good friend the cost s-3 to help with the guidence of third platoon. I do not wish micro manage squads. There are platoon leaders for a reason. There is no need for the co to talk to each individual squad leader. I kept quote om my game plan for reasons danarchy already stated. The only people to know the entire plan was my xo. And s-3. The platoon leaders knew what buildings were vital for the victory. Im sorry if members of third and 2nd platoon thought i abandend them but I was in constant contact with the s-3 in ll. On the top of every hour I received a lace report from him saying troops are green. Ammo is green weapons green and water is green. If you all had not stayed at your poistions danarchys probing attacks would have let him know my left flank was weak. I cannot stress enough that you guys were a vital part of the success of my battle plan. Had you not been there we would have not been able to place the purple jamming boxes in the buildings surrounding. Danacrhy was as stated earlier building m n o p were contested for most of the op.and the mosque could not fall due to it being one of our vital points to hold. I was in contact with the xo. And s-3. When i needed to contact platoon leaders or sof I got a hold of them. I left it up to the platoon leaders to set up their defense as all of them were om board with the battle plan. The parts I shared at least. There was a plan a and a plan b.i predicted that one side of the ao would be hit hard and the other with probing attacks. There was a plan for either side. All i can do is learn and if ams chooses me as a co on the future it will be a little different. This was also the first tome i was a co with 120+ people. Thanks for the epic fight danarchy and big candy. Thanks to zippo and foot for stepping up for command staff. Platoon leaders you did a great job holding the lines i put in place. All on all win some lose some. Cant please everyone. Those that gave me their support I thank you once again.

Ok thought of putting my 2 cents in to since this was my first AMS game and I was attached to 3-1 I had no problem holding Lima Lima all day on the first day even tho all we had was probing attack because of how important it was.

During the night game yes I did loose comms with my squad so I located another squad in a similar situation and rounded them up to fight for something we knew was rather important on some level which was JJ so I lead them into the tunnel via the water drainage pipe and into the basement and fought all the way to the roof.

Now on Sunday I come to find out my entire squad left due to issues stated above and my own partner twisted his ankle in the night game and since he drives semi's he didn't wanna risk injurying it worse (which I do not blame him) so I meet up with Alacon (3rd platoon CO) and helped hold the mosqe until I heard they needed help else were so I offered to him to go help and I did I even returned once I found out they needed help again and once again I heard of help else were but when I heard it was Lima Lima I immeditaly gathered 6 players and pushed on the backside to renforce them and we managed to get there in time to help hold Lima Lima until the end.

Wasn't to happy of taking 2 point blank shoots to the face drawing blood but that's what happens when your dead set on holding I was just happy I could play a rather important part in my opinion that could of made the deciding factor now I do not know who the brass member was that was in the room next to me coving the door leading to the stairs outside of LL but I thank him and that was by far the best fight I have ever had thank you all and I will be coming to more events

Just a lowly player on CoST here. This was my first AMS event. I only have a few other LC events to compare to. One in particular was Irene at Ft. Knox. I don't know if Shelby is just not set up for similar stuff, but what made Itene the best event I have attended was that atmosphere. The Army was involved by providing the role players they supply use with actual units and more importantly the pyro and effects. The stuff the army provided just made the immersion that much better.

As for the game play itself, it did just feel like a regular weekend game, but at a cool AO. The lack of communication was very frustrating. Misfit saying the only people to know the whole plan were him and the XO is just short sighted in my opinion. I had absolutely no clue wtf our goals or end game was. Every member of the force should know the plan or the bigger picture as it were. That's what makes our military structure successful. Even the lowly private knows what's going on. Just being told hey, hold this building at all costs is fine if you give a reason. It even goes into principals of adult learning, people need to know why and how what they are doing is important to the cause. Them having an understanding of the plan is critical in that respect.

The night OP was pretty good from my end but there was way too much fratricide. Which leads into my other gripe. Too many uniforms and patterns to be able to tell quickly. Multicam is supposedly tan, but from a slight distance you can't tell what the hell it is. Same with kryptec, from a distance you can't tell what the heck they are.

I was personally killed by a guy on Sunday that was wearing a muted tan boonie, green t-shirt, green vest and DCU pants. When he stood in a window you couldn't see his pants. Making it impossible to tell which side he was on.

I like the concept behind the event and sieries, but there's always room for improvement and I hope AMS takes some of the suggestions both good and bad and move forward to make a better event in the future.

I think that sums it up pretty well. You can't have even semi-educated adults told to stand in a corner for 5 hours with only Misfit1 knowing why. And you can't expect your squad leaders to "make their own fun" if they have no clue what the goal of the game is. Again, I don't lay all of this Misfit1. I understand leadership is hard, and I get that having Misfit and Mako teams in QRF makes it easy to use them in the battle while the map stays firm with board teams. That is why AMS should protect its product more closely. I'm not saying micro-manage the game, but make sure your CO has not decided that no other player is allowed to know the point of the game.

And Jonesy, you were not alone brother. We had our PL3 squad on the field that night - even after Czar Brad had infuriated everyone within earshot.  We were told to meet at the mosque to start the game and we took all the PL3 members we could find with us. SLM from PL2 was there as well. But once the dead lights went on the game was chaos as members could not make it back to their teams, so there was no PL3 at that point.  I went Rambo for a while trying to reach my team, and got some kills, but that is not really why I play.  I like team tactics and that was just impossible with the respawn rule.

Eventually we set up shop and sniped for a while, but with everyone using the same dead light color you could never be sure what you were doing. By 9:30 we were just board, and called it quits along with the lines of people walking into camp. And again, never got a single peep over comms as to what ground we held, how many cases we found, if the HVT was captured.  Just people running around a map in the dark.

AMS Brad, first, thank you for your combat service.

We did not return Sunday in part to avoid any more dealings with you or your ilk. (The other part was preferring to get home to work and family rather than stand in LL all day again.) Your "apology in part" as stated, proves we were right to avoid further dealings. If your way of dealing with hot, tired, frustrated grown men is to poke them when they turn their back by challenging their patriotism, you need another hobby. Remember saying that war vet was wearing his flag like a communist? Please explain how that has a place in your role as Admin at an AMS event? And stop hiding, saying you were just pointing it out like a shoe lace - you threw it at him like a rock to provoke him as he walked away.  OWN IT.

Remember saying "i don't give a shit" when told that guy is a wounded Iraq vet, he can wear his flag as he likes? Thankfully that guy had the balls to walk away, something you lack. And I don't know where or when you served and were injured in front line combat (like this vet), but I'm going to trust this recent Army vet and the Fallujah veteran U.S. Marine, and the military contractor, who watched this episode that his flag was not offensive, unpatriotic, or communist in any way.

In sum, AMS Brad, I won't associate with any organization that treats PTSD vets, our friends, or any players for that matter, like crap. Celebrate our 22+ player absence as you please.

I normally try to stay out of this sort of thing, but I don't think I can this time.

I was the SL for the SoF squad of six guys.  I had my orders for the start on Saturday, start in CC and push into the woods to deny the UFS the ability to flank and penetrate from the woodline.  We did this, and ended up trudging through swamps for about 2 hours.  While in the swamps it became apparent our comms were programmed incorrectly, which is our fault, and no one else's.  If YOUR comms go down YOU need to find a solution. Either reprogram in the field or find some other way to get orders/intel.  I made several runs across the AO to meet with the CO, give him updates on our movements, discuss the next move, etc.  If you want the intel, and YOUR comms are down, over come it somehow.  On Saturday I barely went through two mags, which is fine.  We accomplished our missions, recovered intel where we could, including the FRAGO in the south village.

We had a blast during the night evolution and all day Sunday.  Sunday my AEG went down so I was left with my axe and pistol.  Had just as much fun.  ***Edited from orginal post due to new information coming to light.***

I do have some insight regarding some of the issues people are bringing up.  First, AMS events run on a continou storyline, the results of the previous Op drive the next Op.  This explains why CoST was in a defensive role and UFS was offensive.  If you were a PL or SL and had no idea what was going on regarding the game plan, then you have no one to blame but yourself.  Having been a CO and XO I know less than half of the PLs and SLs participate in the forum discussions or the Skype meetings .  If you want to have an active role in leadership, you need to be ACTIVE in the leadership role YOU have chosen.  If you were present at all the meetings, then this is obviously not directed towards you and I thank you for your participation.  The reason detailed information is not disseminated on the secure forums is we seem to always have a leak; this is why detailed information is distributed during the Skype meetings.  It is then the responsibility of the PLs and SLs to give the information their respective platoons and squads.  One of the unique and outstanding things about AMS Ops is it is very player centric.  The leadership is chosen from the player base, everyone one of us has an opportunity to be in a leadership role.  If you don't like the way an Op went, then step up and take an active role.  It seems there is always a plea for people to fill leadership roles before every event, but almost no one is willing to fill it.

Injuries on the field: these are going to happen regardless of what the event staff briefs you on beforehand.  People trip on elevated platforms, trip down stairs, fall out of windows as they try to be cool and do things they have never done before.  I fail to see how this is the fault of the event staff.

Support staff:  I do think they need to be in a different coloured shirt and it needs to be made clear ahead of time they are not admins and can not function as such.

Uniforms:  I am a huge proponent of clearly defined uniforms.  Tan is tan, green is green.  For example, DCU, chocolate chip, desert DPM, M81, DPM, Flecktarn.  There was way to much fratricide going on, always is.  As ClayVT mention, multicam and kryptec can go either way (no pun intended).  While I understand target ID is part of MilSim, however, the continued fratricide takes away from experience.

Complaints:  I urge you to send your issues/suggestions to the AMS staff.  They are very open to discussion on how to improve your experience.

In conclusion, we had a great time.  We will be returning to AMS events in the future.  Hope to see you all in New Mexico!

First off, this bickering coming from to Louisiana based community needs to stop. Your making me feel ashamed to be part of the Louisiana airsoft community. I was happy to not have to drive 9+ hours to attend an AMS op. There was a lot of new AMS antendees there that did not follow the AMS story line or rules. It also is up to you to decide what you get out of the experience. You get out of an op, what you put in. I was a squad leader of QRF. My gun went down beginning of game, my coms went down shortly after. I was still able to find Zippo, Patches, or others in higher command to receive missions and where they needed me and my men. It was hot, so what suck it up, condition yourself in advance months before op. Taje care of what you need in case things go wrong, It us airsoft, your clone/replica accessories may break. Kit yourself to make sure your combat effective. Everyone wants to look the part, but if you cant function then whats the point? AMS staff did great putting on the event! Both UFS and CoST did well coordinating the attacks and plans. Resd the forums before attending any eveny so you know what is going on. If your not having fun, its not the ops fault nor the company hosting the event. Be and adult and make the fun you want. This is a sport at the end of the day if you want a true milsim experience, then join the service. Bitch about coms not working, the heat, command, following orders, and not getting abd trigger time. If you wanted action at Ironclad and did not get any, you are to blame and only you. My team was split to benefit CoST. Foot was in charge of an entire platoon and I saw him only 3 times in two days of fire fighting. Drew our CO, was never on the frontline if so he would have been taken and used against us in negotiations. He monitored the Mosque where he had an oversight over the entire playing field and shifted forces where needed. Zippo of Mako was ontop of his fame as well keeping QRF constantly on the ground reinforcing and putting us in assualts we knew we would end up with many casualties but it was needed at that certain point to hold or hold off certain buildings. CoST had perfect intel always floating around withing various CoST members. I was constantly asking for sit reps and getting new intel on enemy forces occupying certain buildings and using the building characters to specify where they were. Solid op, CoST came and defended as we were intended to do according to the ongoing developing storyline. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT AMS OP! CoST Pride!!

Gentlemen,

We understand that there was hiccups for some people and also that there were a large amount of people that had a great time.

However.. please do not think for one second that we are not in the process of working on the appropriate changes to make sure our games are better in every way. We have had a pretty good string of success over that past 3 years.. good games.. great games and a few that did not go as well as we had hoped. Guess what.. that's how it is.

Sure it stings to hear how things did not go well for players. Actually it stings more than you know.

But we want to know so that we can attempt for it not to happen again.

American Milsims goal is to continue to improve, make changes as the player base deems necessary and continue to find better locations.

Bottom line we at AMS thank you for your comments, feedback and taking the time to express what you did like and did not like about our events.

Thank you again for your time here on the Forum!

Silva!

I can understand "not everyone will have a good time", but at other milsim events I've attended, while there were players that did not have a good time, this [mass amount of players pissed off/left early/vowed to not come back] didn't happen.

Spartan seems to be describing an instance where his squad received missions and orders, completed them and had a good time, this is great. Not every squad was at a high enough level to stay together under these conditions, thus loosing out on the experience. They were shuttled to the mosque to "shoot stuff all day" or just let go from respawn with no intel. No one could ever tell me where my squad was. At BSM I at least could radio and HQ sorta knew their location.

That waiver is not "Ironclad" and after a safety breach leaves AMS wide open to being sued for negligence due to FPS and reg rules being overlooked. 6 injuries would have me as a game planner worried. I've dealt with injuries at my events. Yes, I've planned some events and tried to work around the player base. I can say that I had some people pissed off, but not as many as this event and not to this level.

Looking back, as Gator Bones has said, "you make your own fun". I'm a very rules oriented person. I was told to follow orders. Looking back, I should have done whatever I felt like having my "fun" at the expense of my squad and those around me. Since I find great pleasure in going lone wolf as well as in a squad. I couldn't find my squad.... I should have went lone wolf or went back to camp and grabbed some black and went in as OP4.

Who chose the OP4 anyway? I actually wanted to do that. I stopped a few and they told me they were just picked at random.

EDIT:

Yes. As a player it is totally my job to make sure that my comm equipment is programmed to AMS codes. Its also AMS responsibility as game planner to try and assist players when they realize that this happened. They did, but were to busy to help. Entire squads could not and did not contact command during the event.

Maybe I'm overreacting a bit, but I expect a lot from people that are supposed to be in the big 3 (I've only attended blacksheep so far). It can't be a true military simulation since that would require vast amounts of money and we are just "making do" with what we have. Please add a disclaimer to reflect that if players are not having a good time, they will need to find a way on their own to get a good experience out of the event.

Also, thanks SIlver for posting here. Makes me feel better knowing there is at least some level of attention being devoted to this. I will attempt to help with the event next year. I will not be a player. It seems my personality is more suited towards running events than being in one.

More attention that you can possibly fathom SIr. lol

Sorry you did not have a good time..honestly. I Hope that you will attend another and see how it goes.

That is good to hear. Being seperated from my squad for over half the event was not my idea of a good time. After respawn I could not find but a few and there was no knowledge of their location. I do not like to go against orders so I played while distracted.

Speaking of distracting, those nice cars parked in the AO that we used as cover. Those.... should not have been there, they interfered with the event.

Edit: I went ahead and edited my posts some. Some things were.... maybe too harsh. It will depend on how my PM messages go for future postings.

As a combat veteran and disabled vet myself. I feel it down right degrading to throw stuff out there for everyone to see.

Being a wounded or disabled vet doesnt mean you can throw it out there to make an argument valid. Being a disabled combat vet means you have sacrificed and lived. It means you have served this nation with every inch of your soul and being. My self i like to play these games to help with ptsd and memories. I take it seriously..more than i should at times. But i dont go out there throwing my service record around. You joined to protect your country. So thanks for your service. Remember its just a damn game at the end of the day. So lets put this to rest because quiet frankly were grown ass men who play a hobby and a sport. Be greatful that you even had the opprotunity to play at a military installation. Most civilians will never exp something like this like we do. Be repectfull and be humble.

There goes more players. Thats at least 50 so far that won't be back. A bit of admin inference here about changes would go a long way to repair this huge hole in the player pool that is leaking out.

My guys actually paid via credit card, so if I don't see something happen pretty soon, we will all do a charge back since most businesses only understand money. Don't ignore us please. A "we are working on something" or to that effect would be cool. If I'm [we are] going to be ignored and my PMs ignored, I'd rather disassociate and at like you guys don't exist.

AMS is definitely working to address your issues and they take all feedback very seriously. Just because they aren't posting on the forum doesn't mean they aren't listening. They have made huge changes from the very first milsims to now.

To address your threat of a charge back because you were unhappy about the gameplay that was presented; I'm sorry, but that does not constitute a charge back. AMS provided a great amount of play and an amazing AO along with as much support and effort as they could. You even played in the event at least for 1 of the 2 days which means you participated. Just because you didn't have the amount of fun you wanted to have doesn't mean you can get your money back. Ever pay to watch a shitty movie? You can't order a sandwich, eat it, and then say you weren't happy and ask for your money back.

A charge back would be one of the biggest, most disrespectful (I would like to use other words but I'm trying to keep calm addressing you) things to do and it would bring a ton of shame and loss of respect to you, your team, and location player base. To even make a threat about this makes me think less of you and your group, not that I thought highly to begin with from reading your posts and this Zimmer guy's posts.

If you didn't like the AMS event, then don't sign up for anymore. I would be happy to never play with or against your group of players after reading the complete shit being posted here.

Mr. Zimmer, you are right.  I did throw it like a rock. (A fine way to put it by the way)  I apologized before and again, I am sorry I handled myself that way.  Admin gets hot and tired as well.  I find airsoft to be very theroputic as well.  Your friend is not the only one in those shoes.  I keep my background very quiet as I feel I simply applied for a job, got paid, and went home.  I ask nothing of anyone.  As Misfit said above, "humble."  The bottom line is...........I was wrong.  I own it.  As I stated, I looked for y'all to apologize on Sunday to no avail.  Now I know that y'all left.  I cannot go back and undo it.  I feel that you and your men have stated valid points here however, the continued personal attacks need to stop.  I GET IT!  Everyone gets it, I f'd up!  That doesn't mean we need post after post calling me names and so forth.  I would be more than happy to get on the next flight to wherever you guys are and apologize in person.  I don't, at this point, know what else can do.                              To Misfit, thanks for stating it the way you did and having my back.  Semper Fi!  I love you, Schmuck!

I'm not going to reply to that here. I'll send you a pm.

For the record. I quite early both days, but not the night game. My bread decent, meat was dry, chips were good, but man, that hairball on the last bite made me puke. The AO was provided by shelby, so were the effects, they come with the AO as far as I know when you rent the facility. The comm, structure, gameplay, respawn, water and OBs were provided by AMS.

I was an AMS support staff member (I would end up paying out $50 either way, so money isn't the deal here) and got there late due to having no clue where to go (wasn't told) I talked to alex after the event (he will remember, since I picked up a nerf and a mag from lost and found) and I should have addressed this there, but I couldn't talk. Still can't talk very well.

I sincerely appreciate being patronized and look down on by the AMS player base. If that is the case, I would soon keep AMS out of the state if it brings players like this with it, if its not the case, please feel free to help me instead of go Paul Bunyan on me. Yes, I made a mistake in jumping the gun, I should not have posted that here and kept it between admin in private for resolution.

Evidently my inability to react as what is deemed proper makes any and all my claims irrelevant by some AMS forumers. I was awarded no such courtesy on the field.

I am done with this AAR. I was going to post my own AAR, but it is the same thing others have said. Out.

I'm not disregarding your service one bit and I am not a vet.

My comment was towards the ignorance of a "good" PL.  I don't know the guy and I am not saying anything about his play as a person, but the communication was down right awful.  We, as SLM, did not meet him until 3 minutes before the game start and hardly could get a hold of him on the comms.  How can you expect us to go "create our own fun" when it was frowned upon to be a rouge squad.

I am very grateful I play this "sport" (or obsession as the wife calls it) and I try to be respectful in every way.  It's ignorance that bothers me.  The only one who seems to be taking from this at the moment is Silva.  SLM was really hoping this could be one of our yearly games to go to, but we were greatly disappointing.  As of right now, unless we see some major changes, we will most likely not be back.  Maybe it was the fact this was the first game at Shelby for you all.  I hate comparing events but so was BSM and that was a fantastic event.  I would pay double what I payed to play that again.

All we are asking is that our concerns are acknowledged and resolved in some way.

And for Castro, if you are embarrassed about a community that voices their opinions about an event to try and make it better for future gamers, then so be it.  before you start making accusations about not reading up on the event or not making contact, than please read the previous posts.  Our SQL tried to lend a helping hand to command because WE HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE. So communication was made and we assumed this was going to be good.

Again, we appreciate Silva listening.

I accept that Brad, and thanks for the effort. We can move on.

And Misfit, the vet didn't bring his service up, I did. He is not asking for special treatment. But he deserves some. And if one day you need some, or Brad, or any other vet, I'll be just as much an advocate for your dignity.
