  1. Hello fellow Kansan. First of all, I can't imagine a scenario where you are turned away at the door. The event coordinators are some great people, they'll do their best to take care of you if stuff goes sideways. I guess the biggest thing you can do to prevent issues is to chrono your gun(s) before you arrive. As for a packing list, besides obviously all of your regular airsoft gear and camping equipment, you should add the following to your kit if you haven't already: Programmable radio Good boots (lots of granite on site, its really hard on your footwear/feet) Backup batteries for everything Make sure you can carry water on your person. It gets brutally hot most years, and you don't want to spend your weekend in the hospital on a saline drip. It really doesn't need to be any more complicated than that! Once the roster is released, get in contact with your command structure and link up with the rest of your unit. Hope you have a good first Broken Home my dude.
  2. Man, why you gotta bring up A-Tacs FG again and make me all sad. :'(
  3. #CoSTPride!

  4. No Saturday morning formation this year?
  5. Hey Lynxcat, welcome to the forums! 1) Squad size is flexible, and will be determined by faction leadership as we approach the event. 2) If you are not part of a team, but are attending the event with a group of friends, put down one of your friend's names in the "Team Affiliation" box on the ticket. If you all list the same person, you should all get placed together. 3) Command structure will be made public when it is finalized. When the roster is posted you will be able to see who the Platoon Leaders are, and most if not all of them will begin making efforts to establish contact with the people in their platoons. Keep an eye on the forums and on your email once the roster goes live.
  6. Welcome to the forums, make sure to read the rules! Most of your questions will likely be answered there: http://americanmilsim.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3201-american-milsim-ruleset/ From the rules: DESIGNATED MARKSMAN RIFLE (DMR) Designated Marksman Rifle is a special purpose weapon; it is a standard infantry rifle equipped with optics that have been enhanced for longer range and accuracy. Some examples of a DMR are - M16, SR-25, PSG-1, M14/M21, G36, AUG, G3-SG3, Dragunov (SVD) etc... Bolt action rifles may also function as a DMR as long as they adhere to the Max FPS. A. Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) may ONLY operate SEMI-AUTO mode and must be physically incapable of firing in full-auto. B. 450 fps max @ 6mm x .20g, 345 fps max @ 8mm x .34g for AEG C. 355 FPS max (1.88 J) for 6mm x .32g for Gas Weapons (Classics, PolarStars, GBBRs). D. Limit ONE (1) DMR per squad (or otherwise stated). E. Weapons using an external gas source must have a locked regulator to prevent field adjustment. F. Operators of a DMR are required to carry either a standard AEG or sidearm to engage targets within the minimum engagement distances. G. Mid or Real Cap Magazines only. H. Minimum engagement distance of 60 feet. I. Carbine rifles do not qualify for DMR J. May not engage targets within the same building. K. May carry 7 magazines on your person.
  7. Welcome to the forums, and the Coalition! 1) They will release an official timeline with specific details as we get closer to the event, but here is what you can usually expect from Broken Home: On-site camping opens up on Thursday. Staff and Vendors begin setting up (continues into Friday) Registration, chrono, and safety brief open up on Friday. They will also be running Saturday morning. At some point Friday night the 48hr continuous operations units start their thing (CoST Raiders and UFS Scouts). Saturday morning, around 9 or 10am both teams gather for formation and final pre-game brief from Staff. Assuming one team will be based in Caen, which is a stone's throw away from the campground, that team then walks to their FOB. The other team will likely be stationed in the Airfield, or maybe even further out, and will be loaded up on Duces. STARTEX usually around 10-11am. ENDEX usually about 8-10 hours later, before it gets dark. Sometimes there is a nighttime Evolution for a couple of hours, but we won't know until they release the official timeline. Sunday morning formations is around 8, STARTEX around 9. ENDEX usually around 2pm. Raffle is usually an hour after ENDEX, and lasts an hour or more. Staff and Support Staff break down gameplay elements. 2) Everyone will tell you what you probably already know, but this really is a brutal AO. Hydrate or die, do your cardio, etc etc. The AO is covered in chunks of granite. Its absolutely killer on the feet, and can def tear up your boots, so be aware of that. 3) Kansas, sorry!
  8. I appreciate that Ron, unfortunately we have decided to enlist as CoST Army this year since we've got a couple of new members coming with us. Maybe next year!
  9. Welcome to the forum and to CoST. First step, read the rules! http://americanmilsim.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3201-american-milsim-ruleset/ The answer to your question is yes: MAGAZINES A. High capacity magazines (HICAP), AKA Clockwork Magazines are only authorized to be used in SSWs. B. Drum/Box/C-Mags are only authorized to be used in SSWs. C. Rifleman/DMR/Sniper are allowed 7 midcap (non winding) magazines.
  10. So hyped about those CoST Raiders. JP, think you've got room for 8 to 10 from Ad Astra to fill a Raiders squad? Scratch that, we're enlisting as CoST Army.
  11. That's going to be a hard no, although you could wear a multicam softshell tactical jacket with multicam pants and a gray vest and be on tan team...
  12. Last I saw, Yuk said on facebook it was going out tonight.
  13. Yep, keep an eye on your email. Yuk is sending it out in the next 48 hours (CoST)
  14. Gotta disagree with you, a radio is an absolutely essential piece of equipment. A lot of folks use these. They're cheap, and they get the job done. https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-UV-5R-Dual-Radio-Black/dp/B007H4VT7A
  15. Limit is seven mags total for your rifle, no limit on pistols.
  16. The secure forum should go up in the next week or so, you will get an email from CoST command with forum access when it does.
  17. I think you dramatically underestimate people's ability to distinguish between camo patterns
  18. http://tacticalgear.com/clothing probably your cheapest option for new. Propers aren't amazing when compared to other, more expensive brands, but they will get the job done for a reasonable price.
  19. You'll get an email with forum access when the secure forums go live.
  20. If you break the rules in any way (including violating event uniform rules) you will incur warcrimes for your faction. I know it sucks when your favorite pattern doesn't make the list, but if you want to attend the event you have to obey the rules.
  21. Its an M4 variant, so no it will not be considered a DMR. If you're shooting over 400 fps with 0.20g bbs, then it will not pass chrono.
  22. When they open the secure forum and post the rosters, just contact your squad leader and tell him you're running Rifleman instead. Beyond that it doesn't matter in the slightest.
  23. But....but.....how will we get our wristbands?
