Does anyone know why AMS is moving away from the DMR role?  I feel this role and the sniper role should be improved/ enhanced NOT REMOVED. Increase the FPS of these roles and actually give roles like these an improvement overhaul. Require the DMRs and Snipers to be real world DMR and Sniper platforms, Allow DMRs to provide overwatch, insist all snipers register with a spotter, Etc.  MEDs are fine when observed and I would suggest not allowing them to be used in buildings at all but give us the rooftops.  :) Anyone else have opinions or thoughts about this?

This is something we are discussing internally, any feedback is welcome.

I have to agree with RAZRROB on this; I do think something like a DMR should stick around (for the sake of MIL-sim)- I am not a DMR but I know the value they can provide if utilized properly in a scenario- EG lookout/ Recon and radio back or as precision support in the event of an ambush or High Val target coming into play.

MED; for sure within a certain distance (like support gunners) but I am neutral on the raising the FPS and I certainly like the idea of an actual sniper-spotter team.

Just an IMHO but something I think would pose a great loss for anyone if it's removed.

Wait a minute.... *inserts witty quote here* Ahhhh... that's better.

I believe if a person wants to pay to play as a sniper, then let them pay. Removing it entirely would be going away from MilSim. The game creators should spend a bit more time to integrate a sniper team in to the mix. Working directly with command and throwing in some HVT take downs for points...I have played both ways and IMHO...I was able to be very effective for assault teams playing as sniper role.

Keep Mil Sim...exactly that!! If we all loaded up with plate carriers and charged a wall of bb's..only to respawn and try again..then that would just be boring. There are plenty of people already to support assault roles...your talking about 8 people out of a few hundred..that want to play that role. Don't throw that away...just because. I would sadly no attend milsim if i did not have the option to play Sniper. I just enjoy it to much as do the others who play it.

BTW...why is AMS even considering removing it? What is so troublesome that the consideration is on the table? People loved my sniper rifles at both Broken Home and Reindeer games!! Are people complaining...or just think is Non Value Added? Either way...its part of the game....SO PLEASE KEEP IT!!

Oh...and i think they should be able to shoot from buildings!! Keep in mind...once the MED is broken by the opposition..sniper is useless without a team or backup gun..he has to retreat..from building or not. So keep access to buildings!!

First off. The DMR role is under talks within AMS ownership.
Sniper is a different role and has not been discussed about removal.
Please don't stir up fake news. Lol

My apologies...i play both roles and my dmr shoots just as far as my sniper..i had lumped the two as one. Again did not mean to stir up false information. Im an old newbie who enjoys both roles and just got them together. Sinceresy Regrets

Perhaps some AMS staff could weigh in on why they're considering removing the DMR role? It's not a safety/overshooting issue, since support weapons have the same FPS and MED restrictions.

The ability to run higher FPS and heavy weight bbs more effectively is be a game changer in the right hands. Personally, I'd like to see the DMR become a more effective middle ground between the rifleman and sniper capabilities. For instance raise the FPS limit to 480 (AEG w/ .2g bb) and increase the MED to 75-80 feet. Let's not get rid of the DMR role, but rather, better distinguish it from the Rifleman role.

Thoughts?
