AEG Teching- Need Help

Recommended Posts

I'm new to doing any sort of tech work, so I really have no idea what I'm doing. I'm wanting to get my Echo 1 Troy to be a more... usable... gun. I've had a G&P gearbox put in with a new piston and cut off lever. Right now the trigger response is awful, so I'd like to get that better. It's shooting right around 400 FPS right now and I'd like to keep it there for outdoor play. Im looking at getting a Lonex Titan Motor, and Matrix 13:1 gears (which I have learned are just rebranded SHS). Also heard that a new trigger itself might help so I'm thinking about an Angel Custom Tunable Trigger. Are these upgrades going to help and am I leaving anything out? Thanks!

You're on the right track, but I'd go for the much less expensive SHS or ZCI torque motors. I've installed about a half dozen of each, with great results.

Stay away from the shs gearset, as the diameter dimensions are off a bit and will stress your piston unduly. The ZCI 13:1 gearset has been good to me; I cant speak for the matrix, as the OEM seems to shift on a regular basis.

I'd skip the speed trigger, they're more trouble than they're worth and dont net you any real performance, mainly aesthetics.

SHS 13:1 gears, SHS High Torque Motor (Or some other high torque motor), rewire to 16 AWG 100% silicone jacketed wiring.

Be sure to use the wire only, don't wire in pissant spade connectors in the buffer tube if it's wired to rear - you'll just have resistance and will retard any benefit you would have gotten for having heavier gauge wire. This way the only bottleneck will be the mediocre connection at the motor tabs.

Wire to deans, use a 7.4v LiPo. Throw in a mosfet if you want to use a 11.1 LiPo or if you want even better trigger response.

And yes, don't waste time/money with a fancy trigger. It's just a curved piece of metal - it's not gonna do much for you other than look cool.
