It is important you follow these directions to enter Fort Hood.  As stated in another post, you will not be entering through a secure gate.  Follow the directions below and you should be fine.  If you have questions please call us on the AMS 800# and we will help however we can.

To enter Fort Hood, take HWY 36 from Gatesville Tx, or Temple Tx to 28th Street.  Head South/West on 28th Street.  28th Street will turn into West Range Road.  Stay on W Range Rd heading South all the way to the MOUT site.  There will be signs indicating parking/check-in when you arrive at the MOUT site.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE BASE FROM THE MAIN POST/KILLEEN SIDE.  ONLY ENTER FROM THE NORTH SIDE FOLLOWING THESE DIRECTIONS.

KEEP TO THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT AND DO NOT GET OFF COURSE TO "LOOK AROUND'.  THERE WILL BE GAME WARDENS AND MILITARY POLICE ON PATROL AROUND WEST RANGE ROAD.

Stay to the left when you come to this interchange:

The MOUT side will be on the LEFT. Look for direction BANNERS indicating parking and Check-in.

A good 10 to 12 of us made the mistake of getting rooms at holiday inn in Killeen thinking it would be closer... are there any closer open entry points or are we stuck driving an extra 40 miles to get around to Gatesville entrance?  Like Elijah Rd, or Shell MTN rd?  It is what it is, but if there is an easier way we are all ears!   Thanks in advance brothers!

This is unconfirmed, but I'm pretty sure that it will work for you.  If you head towards Copperas Cove on 190, take Route 9 to 116, take 116 north to Elijah Rd, then take Elijah Rd East to West Range Rd.  Take West Range Rd North to the MOUT site.   DO NOT TAKE THE SHORT ROUTE LISTED ON THESE DIRECTIONS BECAUSE IT WILL TAKE YOU THROUGH THE MAIN POST ON FORT HOOD.

We can also take that route TO Killeen after Friday chrono and safety and scope it out I suppose.  That is the route I had looked at, hopefully we will be clear, that would be swell.  Thanks for looking out Alex!

Is there any way for those with military IDs to access the site from the main base side?

Last time I heard the Elijah Road entry was closed, it may have opened up again but not 100% sure.

You can access the site from the main base, I did this when I was stationed there during OP Bulldog years ago.  However, you will need a temp pass if you do not have a DOD decal. Also, depending on where you are coming from, it would probably be faster to go around the main base. Fort Hood is MASSIVE.  With slow speed limits on base, we used to leave the base, drive down the highway, and then go back through the gate becase it was faster. Also, I got popped at the gate with an airsoft gun once, and it was a pain in the ass.

Will you guys be making an announcement if Elijah Road entry is open on the day check-in begins?

Yeah, my crew and I were wondering the same thing about whether or not Elijah Road would be open.
