Hello,

I'm very familiar to AMS, and MilSiming in general BUT...

I have never done one before and it is honestly my dream to attend at least one this year.

The Problem is, all the events are across the country from me, with that being said, I am a little afraid traveling across the country not knowing what I am doing showing up to an event alone as a newb not being as knowledgeable to the game as everyone else.

Also, I don't know exactly what I "NEED" to pack and how to take the guns through the airport. Is camo required? Best place to get things. Maybe give me a small list of what I "NEED", would be amazing.

If anyone could please fill me in as much as possible I would be very grateful.

Thank you guys!

I have used the MMX checklist and it has never failed me:

http://americanmilsim.com/forum/index.php?/topic/1170-mmx-kit-check-list/

As a general rule, I bring everything.  A nice thing is that there are vendors as these events that can generally supply the things you might forget or discover you need.  Additionally, most of the AO's have nearby locations with big box stores etc.. so it's not like you will be stranded in the middle of nowhere.

My general experience as someone who plays airsoft alone (I'm 36 so most people my age around me don't have the same hobby) is that the community is good at supporting eachother and will generally welcome you in.  You'll have your exceptions but for the most part folks are cool.

Different MilsSim groups have different rules about color/camo requirements.  Just read the AMS ruleset for all you need:

http://americanmilsim.com/forum/index.php?/forum/23-ams-rules-and-regulations/

I don't fly with my gear (too much stuff) so I tend to play at AOs that are within touching states (I am in GA) so I can drive.  But I know that others do and can you some tips on such.

Best of luck!

Agreed with the above. Read the ruleset, commit it to memory, purchase the "needs" it mentions.

Then do some forum searching for past threads like this. There are many out there with extensive lists, some even event specific.

There are threads for airport travel as well, and some youtubers even cover the process.

Yup to above. Google is your best friend. And about flying: I discourage sending your gear with you due to horror stories of luggage being lost. Find another way to send gear and guns if you fly.

Good point. I've heard that many people mail their stuff to a hotel they stay at near the event location. The hotel can hold your packages for you till you arrive.

^^^^ All of that ^^^^

Definitely read the forums. There is a ton of information here. You will find the rules, packing lists, what works and doesn't work and a whole lot more.

Pack everything you can, way better to bring to much than not have what you need. Try to follow the "One is none, two is one and three is two rule". Things break or get lost so make sure you have spares. I drive to all my events because of the amount of gear I bring so I can't speak on what it takes to ship your gear but others here can help you with that.

You can run solo at theses events but you will have more fun and an easier first time if you can work with others. We have a great community here and most will be happy to help and show you the ropes. As of right now I am attending the rest of the events on this years schedule so if you would like we can make sure you end up in whatever squad I'm in and you can run with me.

Welcome to the AMS family and look forward to seeing you at an event
