New Player Needing Help on Loadout

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I would like some I put and suggestions on my loadout that I am going to buy. Is there anything that I need or is something missing?

Also, please review my wishlist and tell me if these guns are any good.

I'm short on money, so please keep cost in mind when giving me items to buy.

Do you have other gear like LBE, pistol/battle belt, boots, hydration, assault pack/bag, rifle sling, weapon light, hand light, utility pouches?

Don't cheap out on boots.  Get something that will last, be comfy, and keep the water out.  I can't stress this enough.  Also, don't buy online unless they have a great return policy.  Test fit your boots.  Break them in before an OP.

If you're seriously strapped for cash you may want to divorce yourself from the molle setup and use old surplus LC belt/suspender rig.  It will look more like Vietnam grunt gear than modern SF but you'll spend (A LOT)less and it works.  It'll also last much longer than airsoft brand gear.

You may also want to skip on a pistol for now if funds are really tight.  With no MED for rifleman you may find you're only wasting CO2/green gas charges($).

Trial trial trial.  Test out your stuff before you go the OP.  Especially magazines.  Don't buy a large batch of magazines until you know your gun works with them.  Buy one or two of several different brands.  Make sure your optic doesn't shut off randomly or lose battery connection(and ultimately your zero) anytime it gets bumped.  Zero your optic with whatever bb weight you want to use.  Turn it on with a fresh battery at brightness setting you'll use and see how long it takes to die.  Find out how long you can leave it running because switching on and off sucks. Especially when shit suddenly hits the fan.

Do you have any experience with things like rifle slings?  If not I'd recommend starting with a cheap USGI two point sling.  One point slings may look more tactical, and they are faster for changing shoulder, but they suck for running around and long duration carry.  Learning to swap shoulders with a 2 point isn't hard anyway.

All other things being equal choose the lighter option.  Ounces equal pounds.

^^^ All great points above. I would add:

- Quality biodegradeable BB's are a must. Usually something .28 and above.

- Most of your rifles of interest seem quality enough for a milsim starter platform.

- Definitely have a water bladder source.

- Possibly have a spare bag with spare supplies to leave in your faction's FOB. (Properly labelled for ID and phone #)

- Something to protect your teeth. (Some skip mouth pro, but to each there own. Dental work is expensive.)

- Bring a spare battery or two, and a means to charge it at the event.

- A baofeng or other AMS compliant radio if you plan on running with a group. (Primarily for regrouping after respawn.)

- ++++ Good boots and the proper socks to wear with them.

- (2) 4 foot long bandages for medic use (in a properly labelled pouch for easy medic location.)

- Full seal eye pro that contacts the face completely. (Your chosen looks fine, but it's always a point that needs made.)

Basically,I have a hydration system that goes on an assault pack, hiking boots, 1-2 utility pouches, a cheap CO2 pistol, and a Walmart gun. That's about it.

I think I'm set with boots, they are pretty nice.

I already have a military belt, and quite a lot more military hand-me-downs.

As for mags, the ones that I have chosen are good for this gun, they are compatible. I've done lots of homework.

The sight, I'm not so sure. It's a cheap sight, so what am I expecting?

I've used a sling on a real gun before, and I also have a cheap one point sling.

Anyway, thanks for the tips, they will help me with all this.

As long as you have iron sights as a backup in case of failure, you should be fine anytime.

Otherwise, you seem good to go.

Zuzu has the right of it.

As for actual gun you have some pretty good choices in your pictures there. A few things to consider is how do you want to run? Rifleman, DMR, Sniper, Breacher, Heavy Weapon, some sort of specialized sub roll?

It looks like you are concentrating on being a good ole rifleman based on your pics.

For AMS events you have to consider velocity limits. Most stock guns will get you anywhere from 300-400 FPS out of the box. Seeing as how basically FPS typically equals more range you will want to get as close to 400FPS as possible. You can go for a cheaper gun and upgrade yourself or spend a little more upfront for a gun with quality parts already in there.

Typically I would rather spend a little more upfront for a gun with quality parts already in there than try to upgrade or repair a cheaper gun.

Higher quality guns are produced by Krytac, KWA, the new G&Gs, and Echo1 produce some descent ones.

Also if you are a little more strapped for cash, shop for a gun that will start you off right by including batteries, charger, and maybe an accessory or two. My first gun was an Echo1 that gave me everything I needed to start playing right out of the box.

Assembling gear is always going to be a work in progress. I recommend spending a little more upfront for stuff that will last versus trying to save on something that will likely break and you have to spend to repair or replace it.

Always take care of your feet, have hydration options, and have weather options...it gets really cold and wet at many AOs in the winter...and Satanic hot in the summer at others.

For what you have pictured, I would go with the Krytac, and the Elite Force 1911 for guns. You can drop those in the mud and they will still shoot well(from experience). Get you a gun light for the rifle, stick with iron sights until you can splurge on an optic. Spend money on boots that will keep your feet dry, cushioned and fit well. For gear that you wear...visit an Army Navy Surplus and bargain shop. Ebay is also your friend but you don't get to try anything on. Have options.

Also, thanks for all of the tips everyone.

As for the echo1, all of the parts are there. I've heard that the battery is crappy, so I'm upgrading it. I'm also getting a smart charger.

The elite force 1911 is an amazing gun, so I've heard. That's definitely my next upgrade to my cheap co2 pistol.

I've heard that the echo1 cronos in at about 370, which is pretty good for the price, I guess.

Since the Krytec is $375 dollars, that's totally out. It's on my wish list just because I would like to save up for that sometime.

I almost forgot. I would like to be light assault, as this may explain why I don't have a plate carrier or helmet.

Also I have a pretty good radio.

Army surplus is my friend. That's where I will get my BDUs and knee pads.
