Considering that as of my writing this, there's 0 spots in UFS, and 148 open in CoST, that would mean we are at 300 to 152 people right now... And there was a post about opening up 100 more spots for UFS, which would bring us to 400 to 152...

What's going on? Are people that afraid of going CoST because they only want to play on the winning side? It's even more favorable to wear green camo at the time of the OP...

Yep aka bandwagoners. At bh2 ufs couldn't scratch their butts with out being shot at by cost. Once cost gets back on the streak you will see it swing the other way.

Sure, the UFS have been winning the past few, but who's to say that doesn't change during the next couple ops? It's happened before and there was a point where everyone wanted to play CoST and UFS wasn't the first choice. Choose a faction and stick with it. You're not always guaranteed to win but that's part of the fun and the experience. Teaches you lessons, you learn and adapt. It wouldn't be fun if you were always winning (nor would it be very realistic either). And whether my side wins or loses, I'm all about just having fun for a couple days slinging BBs while I'm distracted from the real world.

We need more attitudes like this. I'm with you man, when I was at Broken Home last year, I was completely stress free, and distracted from real world problems. These ops aren't just a game to me, but an experience. A chance to be outdoors, camping with friends, and shooting people. The relationships that are created at these events are astonishing. Two of my best and closest friends I met at Broken Home 3 and I hope to make more this year.

There's several reasons people switch back and forth. I have played for CoST and UFS and generally try to buy tickets for the side with fewer players. Some people like the organization of UFS better than that of CoST.

As I've always said, it's an eb and flow thing. Couple years ago, CoST was in UFS's current position with a huge winning streak and numbers. As such, I chose to go UFS when I started attending ops seriously. I'm sure that in this next year you'll see tons of people join onto CoST for that underdog experience.

 

I wouldn't fear the ticket counts for BH4. Rest assured, TONS of people come to this event, and once UFS does sell out, you'll get a balancing from people that are just waiting to pick up their ticket.

Myself and the rest of the airsoft Nebraska guys have been UFS from the beginning. During BH1 and BH2 we were getting our teeth kicked in and it was not always fun but we never jumped ship. Now the tide has turned and the UFS is on the winning streak. I am confident that the tide will turn again.

 

Although I will always play UFS I got a lot of respect from any player who picks a side and sticks with it through thick and thin. The only way teams get annihilated is when players get frustrated and go home early (quitters) and leave the hard core behind to continue on with even worse odds. I have been on both sides of the equation. This "sport" would not be possible if not for the guys who gut it out to the end even though they are out numbered due to all the fair weather players who cut and run Saturday afternoon because the game is not going their way.

Improvement is a result of learning from one's mistakes.  Identify what went wrong, find a solution so as to not make the same mistake again, and successfully implement and execute that solution.  To those bandwagon players who always want to be on the winning side, how do you ever improve yourself?  How do you become a better player?  How do you learn anything?  Maybe it's a non-issue.  Maybe they don't want to get better.  Maybe they just want to be a statistical win.  

 

That's all it boils down to.  A win or a loss is just a statistic.  The real victories and losses are the personal ones.  Did all that PT before the event pay off?  Were you able to climb that hill and assault that position without having a heart attack?  That's more of a win than your entire team having more imaginary points than the other team.  Did your squad have a complete breakdown in communication?  Did nobody know what was going on?  Did you get wiped out/fail your mission/let down your team mates as a result?  Again, that's more of a loss than having less points at the end of the event.

Well, yeah, I went to my first AM event last year - it was Broken Home 3, I came with the Chicago Airsoft Association, and it was a group decision to go UFS (even though personally I wanted to go CoST, because of the green camo ). Last year it was about 30 of us, and I think it's over 50 this year... so we are kinda responsible for a part of the shift, but most of us registered as soon as the registration opened - we didn't even think it would be that bad...

 

In any case, I hope we'll get a nice even fight and everybody will have fun for two days

Why don't they have half for UFS and half For CoST! It would make it would be a lot better!

Last year my quad leader shot em "the bird" then ran under a tree. The chopper circled the tree about three times trying to get him

he kept the tree trunk between him and the helo gunners so they gave up and went on to ColeVille. Definitly a LMAO moment.

I joined CoST when I first enlisted in Broken Home 3 last year.  I'm a die hard CoST member and I will never change over to UFS (mainly because CoST revolves around my home state and I don't own any tan camo/gear!).  Through the best and worst, I will forever support CoST!  Even on Op weekends, if I can't go, I fly my colors on my Facebook by changing my profile pic to the CoST flag!  Besides, I enjoy being the underdog!  xD

Well, look at it like this, with less CoST than UFS CoST will have an easier time moving about by giving UFS fewer people to spot and shoot. If CoST plays the cards right, having (pulling random numbers out of the air here) 400 person army can be just as effective as a 500 person army.

Honestly though I am not to worried about it as once UFS fills again people will just go cost to be able to attend BH4.and if winning is all that people are worried about, then  I am glad they are not on CoST or even coming to the event once UFS sells out after 2 minutes.

Copperhead was my first AMS event and the only reason I went UFS was because I already had DCU and so did LZ, my husband. It's cheap to find at army surplus, so it was easy to outfit our team as well.

I do agree that a lot of folks have this weird love affair with mulitcam so that's the side they went to. I don't own a stitch of it, so not a worry for me, LOL!

I'll likely stay UFS now because I made some friends who play that side, and some of the guys I know from here in WI have been to BH, FG, and Ironclad, and they all went UFS as well. It's nice to continue to play with folks you know and enjoy playing with.

CoST will be on the upswing eventually, as these always balance out. You guys gave us a hell of a fight at Copperhead, and I don't think BH will be any different.

Ah, yes, the multiglam people (yes I said MULTI-GLAM xD).  While I will admit that the mutliglam does work quite well, I haven't really been one to jump on that bandwagon.  I respect people, regardless of what faction, that sticks to their team through the best and worst of it.  I just don't like (doesn't say I hate them because I really don't) when people show no loyalty to one side or the other on the basis that they just want to win.  A few people I fought alongside with at BH3 quickly jumped to UFS when we lost there and I was like "really?"

But, to each their own.  I go to have fun, meet new people, and enjoy a stress free weekend.  I like to win as much as the next person but my loyalty stays with the team I sign with.  I can't wait to get out to BH4 and do it all over again...really hope I can get to where I can attend the rest of the events this year.  I hate missing out on AMS events.

Oh, and as for the numbers, I'm not too worried.  As I found out last year, we have some more than capable people when it comes to strategy and tactics.  With a large group, it's hard to fully be able to execute them but I think if it comes down to it, we'll use our small numbers against the UFS in an awesome way.  May have to resort to Guerrilla warfare but no one can deny how effective that tactic can be.

Equal numbers are not always an acurate measurement of balance. Talent, teamwork and communication are huge force multipliers!

 

Don't let number disparities get to you. Just come overprepared and maintain a positive "can do" attitude, regardless of the situations presented.

 

Plus I will be coming to Broken Home for CoST. And I am coming to DO WORK!!!
