  1. I own a Baofeng UV-5R (on top of Puxing PX-888K's) and another team mate runs a UV-5R, so I've had some experience with Baofeng programming, and I would like to venture a guess that the UV-5RA will be similar. For the simplest way to utilize the Baofeng, here's what I've found to be the easiest .Utilize the default setting (where it shows 2 separate frequencies on top of one another: ex. 460.5265 153.4750 From there simply enter the applicable FRS channel you are wanting to operate on using the keypad. You can then press the A/B button and switch to the other channel and enter a channel you wish to monitor. Press the A/B button again so you're back on your main operating channel. You can only talk on one, but you can moniter both. Use the A/B button to switch between the two. If you don't know, here are the FRS channels. (Note: these are not the pre-programmed channels in the radio) Channel 1: 462.5625 Channel 2: 462.5875 Channel 3: 462.6125 Channel 4: 462.6375 Channel 5: 462.6625 Channel 6: 462.6875 Channel 7: 462.7125 Channel 8: 467.5625 Channel 9: 467.5875 Channel 10: 467.6125 Channel 11: 467.6375 Channel 12: 467.6625 Channel 13: 467.6875 Channel 14: 467.7125 If you want to do something more complex, I'd highly recommend buying a programming cable ($12-20 depending on where you find it). You can find a programming software package online for absolutely free, and it is very helpful when entering in channels, encode/decode, PL, etc... If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a PM and I'll help you as much as I can.

  3. Bought tickets (US Special Forces) last week for myself and a buddy of mine. This will be our first OP, and we're hoping a great introduction into the local MilSim community......and a taste of what to expect at Broken Home II.
  4. I just got my radios in...and after reading this thread I couldn't decide whether I wanted a Baofeng UV-5R or a Puxing 888K, so I got both. Both radios run nicely, and I got the programming software figured out (only took a few times of me screaming obscenities at the screen). I'm now running 2 888K's on my rig, with one hooked up to a TCI MAST....utilizing a Z-Tactical Dual PTT and a Z-Tactical Comtac headset. Seems to work awesomely, and allows me to use my UV-5R as a spare radio for a squad mate.
  5. I got the name J Dizzle from my buddies in the military. I'm 1/2 black and 1/2 white, but you could say my personality is more on the "white side" of the spectrum. However, I do on occasion act ironically black for comedic purposes. So, my buddies started calling me J Dizzle (based on my initials JD) sarcastically at first......then it kind of stuck.
  6. Thanks for the advice....posted on the okairsoft.net forums also
  7. Hello to my fellow MilSim junkies. I hope this is OK, but I wanted to post about a new team/squad that a few friends and I are trying to form in the OKC Metro. We decided to dedicate ourselves to the UFS cause and we are standing up the UFS Marine Corps, Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) Company. While probably not in time for ESR, we hope to be able to field a squad for Broken Home II. If you guys want to check us out, visit our FB page http://www.facebook.com/pages/UFS-Marine-Corps-Fleet-Antiterrorism-Security-Team-FAST-Company/539738216057999 Respectfully, J Dizzle F-6D P.S. Our Designated Marksman (Mouse Ears/F-5M) is also a graphic designer and designed all of our artwork. I think if you have an artwork need, and you ask nicely or offer beer, he might be able to hook you up.
  8. Greetings, I am brand spankin new to the AMS community, but not to Airsoft MilSim. I played for 3 years when I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan (assigned as a Fleet Marine Force Hospital Corpsman to a couple of III Marine Expeditionary Force units). They were a good group of guys, but the games/OPS lacked any kind of organization (they operated more like pick-up games). I've been out of the airsoft loop since I was discharged. I am currently a licensed EMT-Paramedic, but I work in Healthcare Administration for the Federal Gov't. I am intending on getting some gear to be able to participate in OP Broken Home II in May, since I got rid of all my Airsoft Guns when I got out of the military. I look forward to playing and having fun with you guys.
  9. I just found out about AMS yesterday, and I am utterly thrilled to start planning to attend my first OP (more than likely Broken Home 2 in May) but I have an IFAK/Medic question. I understand the IFAK rule, but when I took part in MilSim Airsoft OPS back when I was on active duty, and now when I take part in injury-prone activties, I always carried a milspec first aid/combat trauma loadout because of my background, training, and licensure (EMT-Paramedic, US Navy Fleet Marine Force Hospital Corpsman, graduate of the International School of Tactical Medicine). I'm pretty sure I can grab a couple of spare ACE wraps and stuff them in a spare MOLLE pouch, but I've not seen any rules or procedures of actual medics participating in the events. Are real-world medics allowed or even encouraged to bring their real medical equipment? Are real-world medics assigned to the medic role during squad assignment? If a participant were to really injure themselves, are we allowed to disregard the game to treat them accordingly? I probaly have a few more questions that'll come up as time goes on...but that's all I can think of for now. I am very much looking forward to the possiblity of taking part in future OPS, trust me you have a new fan!!!!
