meerkatmogs reacted to OES77 in 24HR OP
Well I don't think you should be able to go to your car/campsite for a break and then comeback on the AO. It's a liability for admins & staff. 24hr continuous OPs have a higher risk of injury for staff needs to be focused on the guys on the AO not if jimmy is uncomfortable and needs a nap and wants to come back outside and play after. Having a rule that if you get off the AO you're done will make it easier on the AMS staff and attract a different group of players. In my opinion it is make or break for an OP of this kind. If you make it ok for players to take breaks when they want to the game on the AO is gonna fall to shit real quick. The game will fail and the people left on the AO who came ready for a 24hr continuous OP aren't gonna get what they signed up for and that isn't fair to them. Like I said at the end of the day this is a business and it would be a stupid business decision for AMS to convert all their OPs to continuous style OPs because the majority of their current audience isn't of the sort. But I do feel like if we look at it even from solely a business perspective having both options would 1; increase their audience, and 2; add lore and brand loyalty to the AMS brand. But i'm not a business major so take that for what it's worth haha.

Summer time in OK. Go for web gear/LBE. Much better ventilated than a plate carrier.
BTW. for you plate carrier types that want something in the carrier, get on down to Dollar Tree and snag a few closed cell foam kickboards for $1 each and cut to size. Do the same for knee/elbow inserts.

Thanks for all your help guys! And your right good gear doesn't make a good soldier, it's the heart that counts right? Anyway thanks again and hopefully I'll see you guys on the field sooner rather than later.

Specs and Doc are spot on - no need to look like a Ken doll when you show up. Yes, there's plenty of fashion show oneupmanship before the game but don't get caught up in having the latest and greatest. It's what you know that will help you perform on the field, not that new fancy gadget. If you're looking for more info, check out my site (link in my sig) or feel free to pm.

Try getting Woodland. !uch less expensive and CoST could always use more soldiers

Uzi does it. Invented for close quarters fighting.

If you're using a support weapon and don't want to lug a full size rifle around, get a carbine/PDW/Subgun. A Vz61, Uzi, MP5k, or similar would be a great sidearm for indoor/backup use. If I wind up playing as a support gunner it will be with an M60 and either an M16A1 or XM177.
tl;dr carry a backup.

meerkatmogs got a reaction from Zone in Standard Multicam and UFS at Broken Home 4
I totally agree with Specs that target identification (part of S-A-L-U-T-E) is a reality in combat experience. I myself had the mistake of identifying CoST member in FG ATACs as UFS as it looks similar from a distance. This resulted in a wrong report to uppers and I was made fun of. Time to get me some good Steiners!

meerkatmogs reacted in Standard Multicam and UFS at Broken Home 4
This has been brought up over, and over, and over, and over.
I'll repeat with my usual response. Target identification is a huge part of combat engagements. And if MC looks green to CoST, it does to UFS as well. Camo color itself does not matter. What matters is what camo's are listed under each team's list. Learn those and learn to ID the pattern based on pattern, not color.
On another note, please introduce yourself to the forums before anything else. Allows us to get to know you and know where you are coming from.

meerkatmogs got a reaction from dirtpro in What foundations would you like to se AMS support?
I totally agree with DirtPro. I met Dave Roever once and he does help a lot of injured vets both spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Helping an injured vet has to be both from the inside and outside. Inspite of his pretty messed up face, fake hair and ear, the guy is super funny. If the vet has lost his legs, he got them to wear pants with Velcro seats so they could stay on the saddle of a horse to go horseback riding. He visited troops in Iraq and got to sit on Saddam's chair himself. He has a genuine heart for injured vets.

I'm sure glad a bunch of people are aware of safety. It does pay to have some training. I'm also glad we got a genuine Medic in Doc Dodge with us. Last year a guy got his arm messed up in a gully and I just heard for screams of "Corpsman!". There were players who real medics who responded to him. He made it okay. With years of experience in mountaineering, rescue, disaster response, and the military I always pack a basic first aid kit with me in a Ziploc bag in all games.

I would like to see AML back the Dave Roever foundation. I realize that some may have a problem with it being a Christian organization but they do alot of "permanent good" with what they get. Dave Roever was a brown water black beret in Vietnam and was injured when a grenade went off next to his head

meerkatmogs got a reaction from Random DMZ in BREAKING NEWS!!!
It was my first time playing at OP Broken Home 3 for CoST and it was an awesome event! I was part of the CoST teams that attacked and overran the St. Mere Eglise roadblocks and almost captured the blockhouse uphill northeast of Colleville until we were repulsed by a UFS squad reinforcement. Fighting was intense and almost heated me up until I saw this UFS guy with his Mohawk head died red (you know who you are) like a dead rag . That made me laugh, cool down, and see how hard the UFS guys were working and getting hit to defend the position. I congratulated the first UFS guy who ran up to medic his buddy next to me. Good job UFS guys! It made me think of improving tactics on how to attack a blockhouse uphill in steep terrain. It also taught me how to keep my cool under pressure.
Overall, both sides did their utmost best in the heat, hills, valleys, chopper, woods. UFS put up a tough, organized fight that I always had to watch those flanking moves in whatever terrain. You earned my respect. Well done UFS! You made the games exciting, thrilling, a test of wits, endurance, brains, etc.
To the AMS organizers and staff, hands down appreciation to keep such an active, thrilling sport going for all types of people. There were other airsoft players I know who weren't able to make it but my stories of OPBH3 will sure make them come over to experience future AMS events. Congratulations for a job well done! Period!

Out of likes, but this ^^^^^!
Barring the one or two on here who seemed locked in their own world, I had a blast running with all of you... green and tan alike. Great game! The beauty of this game was watching each team focus on their particular strategy: UFS went for territory, while CoST went for objectives. As a result, the numbers are close; regardless of who finishes with the most points, we all got a chance to rain plastic on each other for a weekend. Focus on the positive, and let's look forward to the next one!

also: you won't be a minor forever.
Patience padawan. The milsim is strong in you. sometimes, minor vs no minors is an issue out of event hosts hands. I've been helping with events in my local community for a while, and sometimes when scouting potential fields and AO's this is an issue I've encountered and you just can't do anything about it. AMS is such a badass group of dudes, that they just can't turn down those kickass AO's cuz of not allowing minors.
But one day, you'll be old enough, and you'll be able to kick ass just the same on these new places.

AMS and fellow Airsofters,
Right of the bat I would like to say that the two events I have attended, ESR19-2 and BH3 were AWESOME! I love going to AMS events. They are very well organized, and the staff certainly work hard. I would go to more if I could. Which leads us to the complaint. No, its not about rules, or someone not calling their hits, nothing like that. It is that AMS has only 3 events that Minors can go to. (ESR-19, BH3, and B/G) I would love to see another event this year that Minors can go to. If Blue Grey is being held I will probably travel to be there, but I do not see it on the upcoming events list. I would pay 500$ in gas or plane ticket to get to an AMS event. (Which I can do because I have a full-time job. The joys of homeschooling. ) Now I know that these events take a lot of time, money and effort. You certainly aren't going to create an event because one minor is unhappy. That is why I now want to invite all minors who would like to see this happen to post about it below. Thanks everyone for your consideration in reading this post, and hope to play with ya'll soon!
Junior16 out, Wichita KS
PS Thanks for the high five at BH3 Big Silva! Now I just need to get one from JP.

meerkatmogs reacted to Grendel in BREAKING NEWS!!!
I watched that video... In no way do I condone or support or defend that action. Game was overall great. Don't care whose vehicle it was. If rules were being violated then rules were being violated. Doesn't matter if it effected outcome or not. rules are rules. I gave props all day to UFS guys. You all were kickin ass and takin names. No arguing that. But rules violations need to be corrected or they keep happening. I am not a CoST for life guy or UFS for that matter. I play to play no matter what uniform I happen to wear.
If you by any means wether you are CoST or UFS in these games are violating rules you don't belong. I don't like playing with cheaters any less than playing against them. Rules are there for a reason.

meerkatmogs reacted to Ron Mexico in BREAKING NEWS!!!
I couldn't say things better than what has already been said. I saw great sportsmanship on both sides and heard horror stories from them as well. Things happen and people will ALWAYS bend the rules to help them, this is called MILSIM but to flat out break them is wrong.
Saturday UFS spanked cost but we spread our lines to thin and lost comms creating the holes that we ended up with, No Biggy, we will learn from it.
Sunday was just a spanking and I know a lot of UFS were mad because I wouldn't let us attack into the airport, there are reasons for this and I didn't want Saturday to happen all over again. Colleville became a staging area for UFS to support Pegasus and to keep cost super busy, heck we even ran recon and small team actions from there to St. Mereglies (SP).
On Sunday as it got warm I was constantly handing out water to troops to include our enemy cost, this wasn't anything other than to show support and keep them in the fight. It was getting warm and people were getting tired so I stood in the open and got pelted while offering water to a squad of 12 coming in from the East side of Pegasus. Funny how the first 6 refused water but the last 6 were grateful for it LOL.
I'm not going to give all my secrets away today and maybe I will write an AAR but not sure I need to. UFS troops in my command at Colleville know what I did to keep them in the fight and keep them working like a well lubed machine. This isn't about me, my actions that day were not about me, it was about my troops and the way I like to handle things, I was even called a Bad Ass at one point. I'm no bad ass just Ron Mexico so the next time I offer you water just take it LOL.
The trash talking needs to stop unless it's before a game. Cost got their asses handed to them Sunday but Saturday afternoon UFS got complacent and got smoked. Things happen but to post a BS story line does nothing for the future of players and for the future of AMS. Keep the trash talking for Rebel Yell but congratulate the victor, if we don't win by points then good on cost but keep in mind that you got smoked Saturday and Sunday and that is what UFS should be congratulated on.
In the past we have been the ones to have the mass exodus of troops so I understand what happens to morale on and off the battlefield to lose numbers. I highly doubt you lost 140 troops but to those who were cowards and left shame on you. You made a commitment to fight for your side so stay there. Maybe command needs to bring wet wipes so you can clean the sand from your twats next time but man up and play. Nothing in these threads say that DDay is an easy AO. This place will kill you!!
Who cares if your green or tan, when you go to these events be friendly with each other and talk. God knows you might learn something new from the enemy.
God Bless all of you and hope to see you at Rebel Yell
