  1. I recently bought one of these wonderful radios, and a separate "programming cable", but I can't get my PC to see the device to program it, via any program I can find (I've tried CHIRP, the CD sent with the radio and one other I found, but can't remember the name). I thought I saw someone say they had success with an Apple Macbook, but I can't seem to get the Macbook to recognize the software. I'd try Linux, just to be thorough, but I haven't seen an option for that. Does anyone have any sort of step by step procedure? I'm guessing it's a drive issue with the PC, I don't know enough about Macbooks, unfortunately (job doesn't require it) and the Linux option statement was mostly a joke. Apologies if this has been covered, I've searched, but haven't been able to find the post that I found earlier that seemed to have something that made sense to me. Thanks in advance, and if you'd prefer to PM me, I'm cool with that too.
  2. http://cironline.org/theshooter - near transcript of the youtube video (from what I recall of it). http://cironline.org/reports/navy-seal-who-killed-bin-laden-finds-support-washington-4209 - Apparently, at least 9 congressmen and women are willing to take this hero's issue to try to get some action on it.
  3. To this point, I carry 8 in my gear (chest rig, currently) +1 in my weapon, +1 on my back. All 120 rd Midcaps.
  4. Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I'll be doing some homework from the office for the next few days/weeks, I'm sure.
  5. OK, so I'm aware that boots are important for keeping your feet protected and supported and whatnot, but what about socks? I hear they are important but I have no idea where to start looking for boots. Right now, I'm just using my hanes whites, doubled up and pulled up as high as they will go, so far they are working OK, but I wondered what, if any brands/types, you super cool operators would recommend to the new guy just trying to find his.... feet (so to speak). Thanks for your time.
  6. I don't know if this is logistically possible, but if you're going to have random chrono checks and dedicated MASH admins at the MASH units, then why not have the MASH admin run random chrono checks at the MASH tent? Just seems like it might be a streamlined way to handle that sort of issue with the size of most airsoft chronos that I've seen. That way, they're both accounted for (by responsible admin personel) and readily available at every "manned" MASH unit.
  7. Just got a pair of these. Really enjoying the fit. Can't wait to use them in the field.
  8. I'm not sure I have a "valid" reason that I'm interested in MilSim. I like mission oriented play, as opposed to simple elimination play and MilSim would seem to fit that bill nicely. I also like the idea of working together with a team to support you as opposed to being in/on the field with 4 - 6 other people who are on your side of the field, but really just doing their own thing. I've lurked around various forums and this community seems to be tighter knit and has less ego attached to it. I'm still not sure about all the kit necessary to play, but so far it's been fun doing research and I look forward to my first op (though it won't be Broken Home, for various reasons). I've only seen videos of actual MilSim Ops and those look like a lot of fun.
  9. I used to play paintball and there was a forum that I went to and when I was signing up to it, I needed a name. I'm a fairly tall guy. I figured a good way to describe myself was big, white and covered in paint. Canvas. Changed the C to a K and added an extra S on the end for good measure, and bob's your uncle, I'm Kanvass. Not that exciting of a story, really.
  10. Did he have his safety on, though? (Can't watch it while I'm at work, but the "no mag" comment made me think of Kilroy's sign off)
  11. Hello, I'm Kanvass. Completely new to MilSim and Airsoft in general. Hope to lurk around and learn a few things. Thanks for hosting.
