FOUND: Black pistol mag near the wood bunkers by the Coleville Church. PM me with the gas type and gun model, and I'll coordinate getting it back to you.

Perhaps some AMS staff could weigh in on why they're considering removing the DMR role? It's not a safety/overshooting issue, since support weapons have the same FPS and MED restrictions. The ability to run higher FPS and heavy weight bbs more effectively is be a game changer in the right hands. Personally, I'd like to see the DMR become a more effective middle ground between the rifleman and sniper capabilities. For instance raise the FPS limit to 480 (AEG w/ .2g bb) and increase the MED to 75-80 feet. Let's not get rid of the DMR role, but rather, better distinguish it from the Rifleman role. Thoughts?

Electrically disabling full auto works also. The easiest way to do this is to plug in a Burst Wizard mosfet; you can tune it to fire single-shot on both selector settings.

Looking to offload three 80 cu ft aluminum scuba tanks (3000 PSI). Perfect if you're wanting to fill HPA tanks at the FOB or don't have an HPA tank fill site nearby. The tanks were bought in late 2014, but they've only been filled twice each and are in very good condition. I also have an HPA Fill Station for $20. Asking $120 each for the tanks, or $300 for all three. I'll be at Copperhead 3 and can only do FTF transactions since the tanks are too large to ship.

You sure? A lot of fets can still half cycle - Extreme fire, Nukefet, King Kong, and GATE in my experience.

You likely don't need to cut down your spring. Cycle the gearbox partway with a partial trigger pull so the spring is compressed, and leave it for a week or so. You should see a 15-30 fps drop.

Classic Army internals are shite; my CA Krebs AK had a stock range of about 150' shooting 400 fps (chronoed with .2s, range tested with .28s). The gearbox piston is cheap plastic, the wire gauge is too small, and the motor is slower than a quadrapelegic sloth. CYMA AKs all the way, I had a $70 plastic CM028 reaching out accurately to 220' stock on .28s. Edit: The new G&G ETU AKs look very promising as well, and have more of contractor style to them. If I already had a CYMA AK, I'd try out the G&G one next.

Busy, have you linked up with the airsoft group in El Paso? The facebook group is called "EPAG El Paso Milsim Enthusiasts", and there are a couple techs in there who might be able to give you a hand if you post up.

AEG Teching- Need Help
smokingpancake replied to 417 Airsoft's topic in Airsoft Technical Discussion
You're on the right track, but I'd go for the much less expensive SHS or ZCI torque motors. I've installed about a half dozen of each, with great results. Stay away from the shs gearset, as the diameter dimensions are off a bit and will stress your piston unduly. The ZCI 13:1 gearset has been good to me; I cant speak for the matrix, as the OEM seems to shift on a regular basis. I'd skip the speed trigger, they're more trouble than they're worth and dont net you any real performance, mainly aesthetics. For quality, inexpensive parts, I'd recommend you visit clandestineairsoft.com and brillarmory.com -

Alrighty AMS and fellow players, here's a short rundown of my experience this past weekend; I'm not really a fan of writing long breakdowns of how each engagement went, so I'll make it brief. To AMS, Pros: Awesome AO, thank you guys so much for working to get us onto Fort Hood; from talking with Alex and JP, it sounded like a monumental amount of work and last minute frustrating changes to pull this one off. Despite the weather, I still had a great time. Props to y'all, I really appreciate it! Cons: During the safety brief, a big deal was made about making sure to wear the registration and safety brief bracelets. However, neither myself, nor the 10 guys in my group were ever checked for these on the field. Enforcing having these on your person on the field would help cut down on the dudes skipping safety brief and not knowing basic rules (as I mention below). To the AMS player base (both sides), Know your damn rules! I chewed out a fellow tan dude for telling other players it was okay to shoot through murder holes. He said he hadn't gone to the safety briefing, thus he didn't know they were off limits. I also had to correct a green guy for yelling at 3 tan players who were within 15 feet of a grenade det outside, but didn't get hit by bbs (I was dead 20 feet away and watching closely). He also had not attended the safety brief. Another instance occurred where bleeding out green players were getting heated and caused a scene because they were getting shot while a green medic worked among them. Apparently they didn't get the memo about moving out of the line of fire, which was mentioned several times during the brief, and is common knowledge. And finally, there were multiple accounts of CDF (or whatever the black top faction was called this event) shrugging point blank hits from the back and hosing dudes with a SAW within 30 feet. I saw this twice in person, as well as generally bad sportsmanship from several of them (blatant overshooting of dead players with red rags out and held high, for example). Maybe this behavior is part of their "special rules" clause they're allowed. I'm not a fan, and would like to know what they can and can't do so there isn't a misunderstanding. I don't want this to come off as bashing AMS for a bad event, because it was pretty good. The cons section is longer because I feel like sportsmanship at this event has dropped significantly from previous ones. Let's do better, guys. The game is as good as you want to make it, and it takes stand-up players on both sides to make a successful event.

The 7 mag limit is for your main gun only. There is no limit to how many pistol mags you can carry. AlexAMS, can you weigh in on mag limits if the secondary is a PDW? Say an M4 pistol or MP5K?

That size lipo is fine, the 7.4V types are roughly equivalent to a 9.6V NiMH battery which shouldn't hurt your gun. Fyi, you can buy a similar lipo for 1/4 that price on Hobbyking.com. They have a section for airsoft batteries, so I would recommend taking a look through that.

Is there a camping area at this AO?

Is a MK17 SSR allowed/what is it classified as?
smokingpancake replied to Moss's topic in AMS Rules and Regulations
Sounds like a DMR setup. You'll need to keep the fps under 450 with a .2g bb and lock it mechanically or electrically to fire semi auto only. If the gun has good compression, that M140 spring is going to put you way over the 450 fps ceiling. The AMS chrono station is very strict on DMR limits btw, 450 is a hard stop. -
few questions for a new player
smokingpancake replied to crazyeyes's topic in General MilSim Discussion
If it's your first milsim event, I'd recommend not running a bolty. Not sure how much experience you have sniping in airsoft, but an AEG is much more useful in most circumstances. That being said, I often sling my bolty when I run AEG assault, which lets me take longer range/quieter shots as needed. As for the radio, I highly recommend a Baofeng UV-82. It's inexpensive and will do everything a grunt needs comms for at a milsim game. -
Ah, gotcha. Good on calling him out on that, I do the same to guys on my own team when I catch them rule/hit shrugging. The only way we get better is by policing our own.
-
As for the grenade rules, it was very explicitly stated (several times during the Friday night brief) that if you have hard cover between yourself and a grenade detonation, you are alive. Kitchen counters, dinner tables, or any other barrier that you can't punch a hole through with your hand count as hard cover, according to AMS rules.

One of the support staff guys cleaning up the UFS FOB at Endex had a handful of stuff (DYE lense, can of green gas) to drop off at the lost and found. Might be worth checking with those guys.

Missing one green jointed knee pad.

Well, being someone who knows nothing about maps, I find the satellite & grid setup much easier to navigate.
-
Might be time to update the maps, seeing as how the link only has the East Wind version and no current points of interest.
-
As a UFS player, cheating was definitely more prominent at this event (on our side anyway). I saw several instances of blatant multiple hit shrugging, MGs firing within 15 feet, and a medic calling for hit guys to crawl over to him to get revived. Yes, I called them out on it. Hopefully we pull our act together for Broken Home.

Sticky trigger in semi issue
smokingpancake replied to Catalyst's topic in Airsoft Technical Discussion
Dang, that's frustrating; it sounds like you've thoroughly tested out the problem area with no luck. I hate being the guy to suggest scrapping the gearbox, but you might look into a complete gearbox replacement. I've worked on the APS V2 gearbox before, and had nothing but problems with it (trigger issues as well). If you're in the market for a new gearbox, I highly recommend a G&P complete one. They're very affordable at $75 and have run like a champ in the 5 M4s I've built.
