When it takes this long it's because Jp and Alex are reviewing everyone's videos to see how many war crimes they can get against UFS to help squeak out a win for cost lol.

Yup there should be a player introductions thread you can post under.

As for answering your concerns, it comes down to giving both sides an option that works in both arid and wooded regions to alleviate unfairness entirely. As others stated above, MC is a great all around pattern. Are there others we could choose from under UFS? Sure. If we wanted to stick out like beacons among the trees. Desert DPM, MC arid, AOR1, etc. are all far too tan and light in tone to match the majority of AMS event locations. CoST has similar options such as ATACS which can be quite tan heavy at times. At this time most AMS events are in the midwest or wooded environments, and those of us that can't travel to desert AO events, wouldn't have an option otherwise.

While patterns might be chosen originally as either a green or tan base, I would encourage any and all players to look beyond that, and see the shapes and consistency of the pattern. Does that take extra effort on the players part? Sure. Is it impossible? No.

You might see MC as an unfair advantage in it's like-ness to green. But as a UFS member, I see it as a double edged sword, in that everyone then appears as an enemy. Where are my allies around me? That is also a challenge from our side.

To wrap up my end of the argument, by seeing pattern, and not color, you help to alleviate all the confusion. If you have problems ID'ing friend from foe, create a mechanism for your team to better separate yourselves from those around you. There's a reason many of us UFS guys will mark our backs with brightly colored tape.

This has been brought up over, and over, and over, and over.

I'll repeat with my usual response. Target identification is a huge part of combat engagements. And if MC looks green to CoST, it does to UFS as well. Camo color itself does not matter. What matters is what camo's are listed under each team's list. Learn those and learn to ID the pattern based on pattern, not color.

On another note, please introduce yourself to the forums before anything else. Allows us to get to know you and know where you are coming from.

First let me say, thanks for coming. I know it is a time and a money sink to go to the events, and worse the farther away they are. This is the first time AMS has had as many flags (9!?) in play at one time, along side frag missions. It is clear they did not want us to run out of things to do. However this does result in exactly what happened to you - guys being stuck guarding the "points" and not doing any actual activity. I am sure if your command staff reads this post they will commend you with accolades for the good you did for your team watching that valley. It is unfortunately just part of the game and AMS really forced us to make sure we had guys cover the ENTIRE field this event. Trust me we had our share of bored soldiers on saturday on TAN side as well, and I even know one large group of 30+ LEFT THE GAME due to just this (for shame! you know who you are)

The reality of it is, the game is what you make of it. I bet if you'd gotten in radio contact or actually sent a runner to the FOB, told your command staff that you had 20 guys sitting bored for the last 3 hours, he'd happily have tried to rotate you out and get you into some action. I know that we on tan side do that regularly, if we can. In addition, this is also the responsibility of your company/platoon leadership staff to know where his guys are and direct them - give them things to do. patrol, or just send one squad at a time up to where the action is with instructions to come back when they are bled out of medic ropes.

In the end it comes down to the breakdown of command (which you talked about, half your platoon straight disappearing at the beginning of the game is a legit issue and why solid leadership at the squad and platoon and company level is so important) and the breakdown of the discipline of the individual soldier.

Command level - If you think about it, if I don't know where half my guys in my squad or platoon are, how do I have any hope of telling them where they should be or where the action actually is? On the same token, even if I know where I sent my guys if I can't reach across the field to talk to them via some communication medium (Radio, texting, runners, carrier pigeon, etc) then there is no hope of putting together a cohesive fighting force. Definitely an issue we contend with on TAN side at each game endlessly.

Soldier level - If a soldier hears gunfire and runs toward it, instead of continuing on objective like he's been told (he has been told what to do and why he's doing it, right, leadership team?) then the breakdown continues. This is of course highly varying between different players of different styles. Some guys will get a kick out of patrolling the woods for 3 hours chasing ghosts, some players will curse the game designers because they didn't get to run through their 8 box mags of ammo. Really you can't please everybody and individual discipline is always going to be an issue because different folks want different things out of the game. (Don't get me started about the guy who comes to jawjack at respawn the entire weekend)

Anyway sorry to rant for so long. I think you see the gold that lies underneath the problems this event had, regardless of weather, new terrain used, a TON of new players to AMS (thanks for coming all you new people!), and the normal problems that each side undoubtedly has, AMS puts out a great product and one you can't really capture anywhere else, at least that I've seen. Do hope to see you at another event someday and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Considering that as of my writing this, there's 0 spots in UFS, and 148 open in CoST, that would mean we are at 300 to 152 people right now... And there was a post about opening up 100 more spots for UFS, which would bring us to 400 to 152...
What's going on? Are people that afraid of going CoST because they only want to play on the winning side? It's even more favorable to wear green camo at the time of the OP...

I have no doubt that he knows what he is talking about.

Regardless, I would caution you to spend less time rootin and tooting about legal stuff when you obviously have a conflict of interest.   I am pretty sure that I am not the only one who looks at things like this as a "Well what about Jimmy, he has a bb gun too" situation.    When you are in a situation where you find that rules deny you from doing something the LAST thing you do is go raising a stink about someone else doing it.

Because...  to me at least...  it looks like people exactly like YOU are the problem.  Tag was obviously skating under the radar just fine until someone decided to make a stink about it.

That means that I most certainly will not be buying anything from you, and since you were kind enough to throw Milsim Labs under the bus, probably not from them either.

In the interest of being open.  I am not affiliated with Tag, don't plan to be, don't own any of their stuff and do not really care about it, I just do not appreciate this sort of behavior.

Well, yeah, I went to my first AM event last year - it was Broken Home 3, I came with the Chicago Airsoft Association, and it was a group decision to go UFS (even though personally I wanted to go CoST, because of the green camo ). Last year it was about 30 of us, and I think it's over 50 this year... so we are kinda responsible for a part of the shift, but most of us registered as soon as the registration opened - we didn't even think it would be that bad...

In any case, I hope we'll get a nice even fight and everybody will have fun for two days

Why don't they have half for UFS and half For CoST! It would make it would be a lot better!

Well you keep asking for milsim. You should know that a lot of days can go by with no shots fired. So in theory you were still simulating. You wre told to gaurd the building.
As for admin issues, I never had any and I had tons of times were I needed admin help.
Command wise: I was CoST and was handed objectives that made sense and were important. One of which was take one guy with me and flank around and assault the mash, which would have worked had 3 squads not decided to have a pow wow there instead of spawning and moving on, is what it is.

As for staff I have never had issues. Maybe I'm special, I don't know. My experiences have been great. Then again when I have an issue, I take it to the staff. If am admin can't help, I find a combat controller. If that doesn't work I find either JP, BO, or frosty. It gets fixed. #proactive

Lastly, everyone views the event differently. I had a blast. I have concerns of course but nothing to stir me away. As for fire fights, you can mostly blame your fellow players for not moving to fight. I constantly was on the move and I'm not skinny. You have to find a way to fight. Sure u had to watch a building. Can't get command on radio, send a runner to locate. Get updated objective. Shit happens. Make the fight happen. I'm not known for standing in a building, people know me because I kick doors into people and pew pew pew. I get killed I do it all over again.

But hey, it's your money to spend. We can't make you spend it on AMS. I have been to 5 events hosted by AMS and have always come away from it knowing I left 150% of myself on that AO and had a blast. Regardless of kills. I had plenty but I had more fun knowing I was inspiring people to fight, obviously I didn't motivate you, oh well. I would say id see you at black sheep Shelby but I'll prolly be too busy getting ready for ESR3, BH4, and the new AO in NM with 300+ buildings that won't be full of players who don't make life fun. I run gas, I hardly go through a mag. So not shooting a lot means nothing, just saying.

If your still even reading at this point, we appreciate your attendance and y'all losing yourself to be a target for the opposing force. End of the day it's just a game of dress up:)

    Limits are limits.

In my opinion, when I see a limit of 400 that means that 401 does not get in.   If 401 gets in than the limit is not 400...

400 is the limit, it is not the goal.  I have found in years of airsofting that those who are most apt to push the limits are those who are newest to the sport.  Most of us who have been at this for a while rapidly realize that being good at what you are doing is VASTLY more important than a hot gun.
